Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
We offer a 10% discount for seniors, veterans, and preferred customers. We also provide landscaping, sod, deck, and French drain services. • $15+ Travel fee, depending on distance. I charge this fee for each visit to help cover fuel, vehicle expenses, and my time to travel to your home and back to the shop. It starts at $15, which covers up to 15 miles from my shop and is $1 per mile after 15 miles. • $90/hr Technician labor. (1hr min.) I charge $90 per hour for my services as a licensed irrigator. There is a minimum of 1 hour charge if your project takes an hour or less. • $25/hr Electrical fee. (if needed). If your project requires working on the electrical system, I charge an additional $25 per hour that I spend doing electrical diagnostic and repair. This is also a one hour minimum when I'm doing anything related to electrical. • $45/hr Assistant labor. (if needed). Often, I can bring an assistant or 2 to help minimize the amount of time a project takes, thus saving you money because it means less technician labor. When I have an assistant work with me, I charge $45 per hour for each assistant. • Parts are extra. I take cash, Venmo, CashApp, and credit card payments. Payment due upon completion of service or the end of each day on multiple-day jobs.)

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
1. After being chosen by you to provide service, I will reach out and answer any questions you may have. 2. I will discuss your needs and ensure we can meet them, then connect you with my scheduling team in order to get your appointment booked. 3. If you are opting in to a system check, you'll receive a detailed report organized by zone and by priority. If you're looking to also get any work done on your system, you'll receive a related estimate clearly connecting each line item to its related section in your system check report, so you can feel 100% confident that you have the knowledge and power to make your decisions when it comes to what you'd like to address. 4. All payments are processed via our secure online system.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am a licensed Landscape Irrigator in the state of Texas. License #LI0027792. I have years of experience with all aspects of irrigation. I have taken the required courses and passed the required tests to obtain a Landscape Irrigator license. Texas requires individuals to be licensed to perform irrigation system installation and repair. Be cautious hiring someone who is not licensed. Thumbtack does not require its service providers to show proof of being licensed. If a service provider does not give their license number, they probably don't have one, as they are required to list it in all advertisements and postings.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I was introduced to the world of irrigation by a friend. I am quite analytical and found irrigation quite compelling. I love the challenge of problem solving that comes with doing irrigation.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with all types of clients and enjoy tailoring my services to their needs.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Recently, a client couldn't get any of the zone in their backyard to come on. After doing a system check and troubleshooting, it was clear that a previous service provider had cut the control wires and reattached them incorrectly. This type of situation is too common. I am proud to say that I was able to correct the problem. My advice is to make sure you're hiring a licensed individual to work on your system to save time and money down the line.
