Introduction

I am a caricature artist, graphic designer and an illustrator and have been working with freelance clients since 2000. My job, as I see it, is to help you get your idea out of your head and onto the page or computer screen. I am most passionate about illustration, but I can also design logos, print materials, and websites. The majority of my clients include private individuals from all over the world. However, some notable clients you may know are: The Getty Center, Killing Kardashian, Nude Barre apparel, Zumba, Tucker Travel Cover, Jason Stapleton, Uber, Adam Kokesh, and Vivid Entertainment. With art and graphic design, the clients and subjects are always different, and variety is the spice of life. I get a rush when I submit a completed piece that the client loves.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My hourly rate is $45/hr. I try to estimate how long I think a project will take me, and come up with a flat rate for most projects. If you're ordering a caricature/illustration, I have a price calculator on my personal website, so check it out!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
After the initial conversation, I usually ask for an outline of the client's needs/wants and try to come up with a budget. I'll then send a detailed quote for larger projects. Smaller projects ($100 or less), I'll usually just quote the asking price.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have a BFA from Rutgers University. I've been a graphic designer since 2000 and a professional illustrator since 2013.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I've been drawing since the age of 3, and have always loved cartoons. I used to try to sketch characters that I saw on TV, especially the Looney Tunes characters. I decided to give it a shot as a career when I was in high school, and so far, so good!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Most clients are private individuals and small business (20 employees or fewer). However, I do have a couple larger clients under my belt, too. I prefer the intimacy/flexibility of smaller clients, however.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Make sure you like the artist's style! That's what you're going to get.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Have as many details about your project as possible. This will help the designer/illustrator figure out a price structure, finish the job quickly, and give you a better price.
