Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
We estimate an entire project upfront based on a per-illustration cost. Most illustration projects are in the 120$-180$ range, depending on: 1. Illustration Style - cartoon, realistic, whimsical. 2. Illustration Medium - watercolor, digital, pencil. 3. Illustration Details - number of characters per page, background details.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
1. FREE TRIAL: We create a free trial sketch so customers can estimate our working quality and speed BEFORE signing a contract and making any payments. 2. SCRIPT AND DESCRIPTION After confirming the trial sketch, we require a story script and detailed description for each illustration to start the project. 3. PREPAYMENT: In addition, 50% prepayment is required before proceeding to the main project. 4. SKETCHING: Within a week or so, we provide sketches of the entire project for a preview. 5. COLORING: After approving the sketches, we begin the coloring stage. 6. FINAL PAYMENT: The customer makes the remaining 50% payment after the approval of the final colored illustrations. 7. LAYOUT & COVER DESIGN We also provide book layout and cover design services - wrapping up newly created illustrations in a beautiful book design.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
One of the most beautiful things in the world is bringing ideas into reality by creating a new life. Reading a draft story, then creating a new world full of unique characters and environments that have never existed before is highly satisfying! We enjoy creating illustrations.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We have worked with individual authors, publishing houses, startups, and non-government organizations.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
"Eva's Dream" by Aris Raffich was one of our most exciting projects. First, the author told this story spontaneously to his wife when she was experiencing psychological difficulties in her life. Then, after publishing the book, this beautiful couple had their first baby girl, and they named her Eva - after the story's main character. It was a complex project - creating watercolor illustrations is pretty challenging. However, we ended up finishing "Eva's Dream" within two months.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Pay attention to the illustrator's portfolio first. Then it is essential to estimate communication quality. If your illustrator doesn't respond to your messages or requests on time, you will probably have troubles during the project implementation.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
1. STORYBOARD & DESCRIPTION: it is essential to have a storyboard and a clear description for each illustration before proceeding to the project implementation. 2. ILLUSTRATION STYLE: if a customer has an initial clear vision about an illustration style, then most probably, the outcome will be satisfying. If our customers are not sure about their project's development, we are constantly helping them develop the right style for their story and characters. 3. SIZE/FORMATTING: Customers should also know their future book's sizing and formatting (vertical/horizontal). Again, this factor directly affects the illustration style and creative process.
