What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

The price of the project depends on the size and scope of the work. We'll provide the client with an estimate for services immediately or within a day or two.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

With smaller projects, we'll have a look at the work, then provide an estimate. Sometimes, we can even estimate from pictures provided by the client. For plans and working drawings, we'll provide an estimate for services, then begin the work as scheduled. On larger construction jobs, like a room addition or large remodel, we give a general estimate, then develop a set of working drawings, provide a final estimate and then start the project.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

34 years as building designer and general contractor with extensive training in building design and project management.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

My grandfather was a builder and my father was a building designer and general contractor. I started working for my dad as a carpenter at age 13 and received my own contractors license at age 27.

What types of customers have you worked with?

We have worked with every type of of customer imaginable, but all of our customers have been satisfied customers.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

We completed a large interior remodel including a new kitchen, structural changes, walls moved and an almost complete remodel of the interior. Start to finish was 5 months.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Check the contractor's references and insurance, and make sure the estimate covers all the work.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

How long the project will take? What is your availability? Are you licensed? Will you be managing the project or will you subcontract out the work?
