Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I'm pretty straightforward. If I'm offering a discount, it will be presented to you from the jump. I will always offer discounts to: Veterans/Active Military, Senior Citizens and ADA. I don't charge any fees, but if we're halfway through a project and we want to change something, there may be fees associated with a change order, depending on how large of a change we're making.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
First thing we'll do is get on a phone call. This allows us to get a brief introduction with eachother, and decide if your project is something that we can do. After that, we'll set up a time to meet on-site (whether it's your home, parents/grandparents home, office, etc.) and figure out a full scope of work. This allows me to take photos to reference back to while I'm building you an estimate. Lastly, I'll put together the estimate and email that over to you and/or give you a call so we can talk about the ins and outs, where you can then decide if we should move forward or not.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Fresh out of high school, I started working for a General Contractor. I worked for him for 3 years doing everything from rough framing to finish carpentry. After that, I moved to a company where I learned how to properly estimate work. Finally, after some time estimating, I found myself wanting to get back to getting my hands dirty, so I started BluePit. The rest is history :)

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I've worked with every type of person you could think of. From the "higher end" people, all the way to building houses for the less fortunate in Mexico. I'm willing and able to work to make sure we can complete your project, without breaking the bank.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
There are a lot of tools out there that will estimate work for you, with minimal information. One that I'm pretty fond of, is HomeWyse. You can go on their website and punch in some info on what you want done, and it will spit out a price range on where most professionals will fall. I always ask my customers if they had an idea on what a project would cost, and typically it's outside of that range while my quote will land inside it 90% of the time. Very helpful tool if you're just starting to think about a new project!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
It's always a good idea to think through, and talk through, details with somebody else, whether it's your partner or just a close friend. Depending on the project, usually size and color are the two biggest things that people either don't know what they want or they won't agree on.
