Introduction

We pride ourselves on being a community-based team that can both be relied on during a project and after such project - should the need arise. We stand behind our work and take pride in our word. As a licensed General Contractor, I hold a degree in Biology and Physics - allowing me a direct and comprehensive understanding of load bearing weight and how it interacts with structure. I served 5 years in the U.S. Air Force & 5 additional years as a U.S. Marine - which instilled the highest level of self-accountable integrity and pride in everything I do. I have 15+ years of diverse experience in the trades. In addition, the entire Squared Away team collectively brings a comprehensive set of skills that encompasses all phases of construction which combined equate to decades of experience. Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Our estimates are articulately detailed with no transparency, leaving no room for doubt as to where resources are allotted to.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
1. Telephone conversation to introduce one another as well as assessing customer desires along with temporal expectations as to potential project dates. 2. If step 1 deems we’re a potentially proper fit, an in-person meet is completed. This allows the customer an opportunity to make in-person assessment of who we are based on how we present. It allows us, the contractors - to visual inspect where said project will occur thereby effectively allowing us to accurately estimate. 3. An estimate is presented within a week of the in-person meeting. If said customer has completed due diligence - and decided we are the best fit to contractually move forward, a contract is drafted and agreed on. 4. Once a contract is in place, permits are applied for, initial payments secured, materials ordered, and start dates set in place.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
-Marine Corps & Air Force Veteran - CSL (Unrestricted Construction Supervisor Licensed) -HIC (Home Improvement Contractor Licensed) -Bachelor’s Degree Biology and Physics -15 Years Construction Experience

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I’ve enjoyed carpentry my whole life. I decided to stop pursuing this simply as a hobby - transitioning this into my life’s profession.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
All.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We enjoy all projects equally, long term projects typically present an opportunity to create positive long term relations whereas short term projects allow for a more dynamic change of pace.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
When taking on any project, attain as many estimates as it takes until at least 2 of which price near one another. This will provide the customer with a baseline estimate to gauge the decision making process.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
1. Is said project minor or major? Minor - does it require a high level of expertise or not? No? A fair number of competent handyman are not only willing and available, but will be able to offer very fair pricing on minor projects. Try attaining a few prices using a local handyman if your budget is tight and the project is such it does not warrant (by code) a permit pull. Yes? Attain several quotes from local professionals that are licensed until the estimates become near one another. Once they are similar, use your own instincts along w references to hone in on your pick. Major project? Ask for a C.O.I. (Certificate of Insurance) To carry such requires a fair amount of documentation, time and effort. If one carries such, there is an inherent level of accountability in just this process. Contact at least 3 contractors, ideally 5. If it’s big enough a project, it’s likely the price-tag will warrant due diligence, of a careful and patient process.
