Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Pricing ranges widely, based on the scope of the job, materials chosen by the customer and the estimated time to complete the job. We offer fair and competitive pricing for all projects and customers we take-on, while bringing the highest quality of craftsmanship to each project.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We like to establish an estimated price range for our customers up front with a free consultation. Once the customer has expressed interest in moving forward, we can begin the design process which includes a design fee to begin. Through the design process we will make decisions, with the customer, based on their overall wants and budget for the project, while providing all the options we can offer along the way. Once the customer makes their final decision on materials and scope of the project, the upfront design fee, will be taken out of the total cost of the project and we can begin when the project is fully planned and scheduled.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I've been in remodeling and construction for 20+ years. I was a licensed home inspector for a short time and can typically see potential issues before a project gets underway, due to my training, which helps to plan for potential unknown costs up front, saving our customers time and money and making planning for the financial aspects of a project a much more pleasant experience. Suprise costs on projects are never fun for customers, so we do our best to alleviate those worries up front.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I've been doing outdoor living projects for the past 5 years, but general and finish carpentry has been my specialty most of my life. I also make custom furniture on occasion because I love the process.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We work with a wide range of customers. Our goal with every customer is to provide the best service and craftsmanship on every project we work on. Big or Small.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We recently built a screen room addition for a customer that turned out beautifully. No better feeling than completing a project for a customer and them telling us how much they bragged about it to their friends and family. That job took about 10 days, but bad weather slowed us down. In typical circumstances that's about a 5-7 day job.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
The cheapest contractor is rarely the best choice but neither is the most expensive. There's a lot of contractors out there that look to take advantage of customers and some that will take on a job for less than they should have to pay the bills. The one's that take on the jobs to pay the bills, often cut corners, to keep their job costs down. The ones that look to take advantage aren't hard to spot if you look into the project you're looking to have done and ask questions.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Look into what your project might realistically cost based on overall size, and possible complexity. It doesn't take a long search on Google to find an average. Homewyse.com is a useful tool. If you're not comfortable with the average cost, it's fine to just wait until you are more comfortable.
