Introduction

Over 32 years of experience teaching Swimming allows me to help you learn to swim smarter not harder! I can teach you to swim efficiently and fluidly, improving confidence and speed, no matter what your experience level is currently! I love to see my students beaming with pride and confidence as they learn new skills and reach their goals! **I also teach the course (WSI) that certifies people in HOW to teach swimming themselves. I would love to help you overcome fears of water, learn any or all of the 6 swimming strokes or prepare you for Competitive Swim teams, Junior Lifeguard try outs, Lifeguarding, Water Polo teams, Triathlons, Military qualification tests, WSI certification courses, and much more. I have 6 years of experience coaching CIF level High School Swim teams, as well as 3 years with Special Olympics swim teams. I specialize in working with nervous swimmers. I also love teaching parent-child classes and teaching developmentally or physically challenged individuals.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I have Private rates, Semi-private, Small group and Group rates. I also offer discounts for packages of 8 lessons booked and paid for up front .

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
First, I will talk to them and get to know their goals. Then at the first lesson, we will go through some skill evaluation so I know where we are starting from. At the end of the first lesson, together, will decide which skills they want to work on the most. I will use all of my experience and my entire "tool box" of progressive teaching methods, to improve their chaotic and nervous body movements into fluid and efficient stroke so that they are swimming with confidence and ease. We will work together as a team, until they reach the goals that they have set for themselves.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
WSI-T (Trainer for the American Red Cross), CPR and First Aid Instructor with HSI

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I have been swimming competitively since I was 13 years old. I have competed on club teams, in High school and in college. At age 17, I became a Swimming instructor and lifeguard, and eventually pool and staff manager and then a trainer. I love to see the excitement on my students faces when they achieve a goal and feel comfortable doing something that they previously couldn't!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have coached for Club teams, High School teams and for Special Olympic teams. I have worked with Parent-Tot classes, pre-school ages, all levels, novice through competitive. (ages 6 months to 80 years old) I have managed and also trained Swimming instructors on how to teach swimming effectively and gently. I am a WSI course trainer for the American Red Cross and I work with people who want to learn how to teach swimming themselves.
