Introduction

Water safety is an extremely important skill to have, especially living in Florida. I have taught swim lessons for about 3 years and also formerly competed as a swimming athlete. My swim instruction skills are well suited from beginner levels to advanced levels. I teach all ages, but mainly teach from ages 0-13 years old. The youngest swimmer I've taught was 4 months old. I have the USSSA Special Abilities Certification and I specialize in teaching students with special needs. I am very passionate about sports and swimming has a special place in my heart. Growing up as a competitive swimmer has taught me disciplines and skills I believe I can use to help other achieve their goals. I love working with kids and enjoy teaching them how have fun and be safe in the water. My lessons are not limited by age, I teach everyone who wants to learn how to be safer in the water! My priorities are to teach water safety, meet my customers expectations/goals, and create a fun and safe experience in the water for my students.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My pricing is dependent on the commute to your pool. The pricing is as follows: 5 -7 minutes: $35 8-15 minutes: $40 16-20 minutes: $45 20 - 25 minutes: $50 30 minutes or above: $55-$100

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
The first lesson will be going over basics, assessing your skill level, and how we can reach your goals. Once I get a sense of your strengths and weaknesses, the following lessons will be more focused on learning and practicing skills.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I worked at a swim school for 2 years and have been doing private lessons for about a year. I have a competitive swim background. My certifications consist of the Swim Instructor certification and the USSSA Special Abilities certification.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I got a job as a swim instructor while in college during 2021, and stuck with them until January of this year (2023). I've always had a love for swimming as a sport and love working with kids, so this job was perfect for me. I always enjoy teaching others an important skill and feel very passionate about it.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with all ages, youngest being 4 months. I mainly work with kids, but have worked with many teenagers and adults as well. I also have worked with students with special abilities.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Ask about their philosophy on teaching kids how to swim, be sure that their methods are in line with what you and/or your child is comfortable with. I've seen many cases where students get traumatized based on how their teacher teaches. Personally, I prefer a gentler and more gradual learning approach, especially with students who are more fearful of the water. I don't force the student to do anything they don't want to do, I slowly introduce the skill, build their trust, and they perform the skill on their own volition.
