Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Please feel free to contact me about pricing information!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I find out where the client is physically and mentally before we start. What their goals are, their prior experiences, any fears associated with the water and any special needs. I make everyone I work with feel extremely comfortable sharing with me. I have the ability to be at the level the person I am working with is at, regardless of their age or circumstance.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have a BS in Social Work and am a certified Life Coach. I am a certified Water Safety Instructor through American Red Cross. I also have experience in Aqua Therapy and Rehab through ATRI and Aqua Fitness. CPR/AED training.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I have always had a love of the water and have been a swimmer my entire life. From swim team, water ballet, boating, and anything else associated with water. I started teaching because I had an 'Oprah moment'. I had a Grandmother who was very afraid of the water and lived in Madison, Wisconsin, on the lake. We would go to her house, excited to go boating with her and my Grandpa. She would go out on the boat for a few minutes and would have to come back in right away. I always felt sad for her. She missed out on so many activities that she could've enjoyed in and around water. I felt like it was my mission to help people overcome their fears and love the water as much as I do.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have taught 1,000's of people how to swim, of all ages. I work with special needs and my specialty is fearful swimmers. Those people who just don't like the water or had a trauma associated with it. I can make anyone feel comfortable in the water!

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I have so many great clients but my most recent one is a 72 year old woman that has never learned to swim and she wants to now. I love that! How empowering! Working with the older population is one of my favorites. The challenging part of this population is core strength and balance. Swimming and water exercise really focuses on core strength. To be able to get down from a floating position is all core. I have met with her 5 times and she was about to give up. But the last time she did it! She stood up on her own from a front float position. I am so proud of her!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
I always tell people to hire an Aqua professional that is passionate about what they do. I believe in hiring a Water Safety Instructor trained through the American Red Cross, because their belief is safety first. Yes, everyone needs to learn to swim, but being safe in the water is of the upmost importance.
