Introduction

Please READ this before requesting service — The price is per lesson but I do have discounts if you have more than 1 child. I do NOT travel to Cedar Park, so please keep this in mind and hire a different swim instructor. I live in far south Austin now and I just can’t do that commute anymore with traffic being so bad. Please have a pool or access to a community pool or apartment pools are best. I do have access to two pools but they are both in South Austin. My swim lessons are a bit different than others I have my own approach to swim lessons that I have developed over the years (but it works very well, I have almost a 100% completion rate for kids 3 and up plus I also teach infants too) 8-10 lesson course to go over everything that I teach - freestyle, breaststroke, floating on back, diving to pick up stuff and etc. My price is based upon 20 years of teaching experience!! I love teaching swimming lessons and I think it shows through in the quality of my swim lessons. Everyone is blown away after one swim lesson. I believe in quality over quantity of lessons. And, I also don’t believe in group swim style lessons for many many reasons I could list but the most important thing is just the risk associated with group swim lessons and not having my eyes on each kid at all times is impossible if it’s group lessons. I do realize my price seems high but really it’s not because of several reasons, I’m driving to you and your location (gas costs a lot when you’re driving all over Austin area). I also can teach your kid(s) how to swim or stroke technique in half the time of other instructors (as in they take 15-20 lessons to get to what I can do in 8-10) who charge less than me and I deserve to be paid for that difference. Please read my reviews from real customers that I’ve had for many years or new customers alike and you will see why. I also offer a first trial lesson (it isn’t free but it’s just to make sure we are a good fit) so you can see what I can do in just one lesson and then after that I do require a commitment at least 8 lessons minimum with either me or my employees. My favorite moment is the look on my swim clients eyes (kids or adults) when they finally swim or accomplish doing something that they didn't think they could do in the water. It’s the best feeling in the world to see that look in their eyes, helping others and making a difference in their lives that will last forever! Once you learn how to swim you will never forget it and that also goes with floating on back as well as other very important life saving skills. I want learning how to swim to be fun but also informative for whatever level you may be. Swimming is a beautiful thing and in my opinion the best form of exercise that works out your entire body without hurting your body. Thank you so much and I look forward to meeting you for a swim lesson 🧜🏼‍♀️🏊‍♀️

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I do charge and additional $20 travel fee if it’s outside of Austin.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
My process for working with a new customer various based upon if the new client knows how to swim or not but we go over various activities so I can assess their current skills and swim level. Then based upon all that happens during the first lesson I will create my lesson plan.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I’ve had my WSI certification for 14 years now.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I was on a swim team at the young age of 6 years old up until I was 17. My first job was with the City of Austin Aquatics on my 15th birthday and I was so eager to be a lifeguard. I worked with COAA for 6 years and did everything from a swim coach, lifeguard to swim instructor. That’s when I fell in love with teaching swimming lessons. I left the Aquatics to teach independently and I’ve never looked back. I’ve grown so much as a swim instructor and have developed my own way of teaching that is a bit different than others.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I’ve worked with all types of customers over the years. Young, older, women and men, the youngest I start to teach is 6 months old and that is water safety survival teaching also known as ISR (infant survival rescue). The oldest client I had she was 74 and learned how to swim better and float on her back for the first time.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
That’s a tough question because I’m fond of every swim kid or adult that I teach. But I would generalize say that my favorite thing ever is when a child first swims or does something that he/she never thought they could do. They have this amazing sparkle in their eyes. That is the best feeling in the world to me and something that is so priceless and why I still teach for this many years.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
The greatest piece of advice I would give a customer looking to hire a swim instructor is make sure that she/he has proper certification which is through the American Red Cross and is called Water Safety Instructor (WSI) and or ISR (Infant survival Rescue) Also, that the instructor has years of experience.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
I would say the number one question parents should think through is do you have time to practice or work on what I showed you or your children. Practicing helps tremendously to further the progress of me teaching you or child.
