Introduction

I work on building each student's executive function skills and demonstrate in real time how to be resourceful; either through at-home or online sessions. I make the material make sense. But most importantly I make learning fun! I enjoy the look on my students faces when the material finally "clicks" because I've taken the time to explain it.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I work with each student and their family an hourly rate that is comfortable for them.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
First, I provide a free one-time 30-minute consultation for each new student or family. I get to understand their learning goals and learning style. Then I create a customized learning plan to help them meet their goals.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have worked as a private tutor for 15 years and have 5 years in Education Management. I am a Miami-Dade County Public School certified substitute teacher and have worked in a mostly high school setting.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
When I was 16, a friend asked me for help getting ready for an AP Exam. It was the same exam I had taken the year prior and it involved a subject I was very passionate about. After several weeks of tutoring she felt ready. After taking the test, she passed. Then, she started to tell her friends about me and the rest is history.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with students whose ages range from 5 to 65. Age is just a number. It doesn’t matter so much when you’re learning something for the first time. The thirst for knowledge is insatiable.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
If a tutor you are considering does not have a degree, inquire about their experience in the field and also what certifications they have gone through or conferences they have attended relating to tutoring.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Inquire about tutoring at your child's school. The tutoring offered at schools usually translates to "homework completion" and neglects understanding of the subject entirely.
