Introduction

My tutoring business is presently located in Deerfield Beach, Fla. If you live more than 25 miles from Deerfield Beach, I am unable to work with you in-person. I will be happy to work with you remotely. More than 90% of my students live outside of Florida. I've been tutoring for over twenty-five years. I add a very personal touch and select the perfect method to reach each individual student. I use a number of platforms; including Zoom, and Facetime. Tailoring the session to the exact needs of each student ensures success. Rates are hourly: SAT & ACT $70.00 GRE & GMAT $70.00 G.E.D. $60.00 Stat. and Algebra $70.00 No long-term contracts necessary! You pay as you go. I will ensure that you get caught up and are able to pass all of your tests and quizzes. Subjects I tutor are: Statistics, All high school math, and Standardized Tests. I do not tutor computer courses, accounting, or calculus. I love seeing that "aha" moment when a student suddenly understands a concept they had found difficult to grasp.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Fee based on time of day, morning is the lowest rate. My hourly rate from 9:00 AM until 1:00 PM is only $60/hr. My rates after 2:00PM are between $65. and $75./hr. depending on the topic. Rate also varies on how many times a week I tutor a student. I give a discount for multiple lessons per week. Weekend rate is $80.00/hour

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I take time in the beginning to get to know each student. My style conforms to the needs of each one of my students. I assess what areas of strengths they have as well as what topics they need help with. Then I set out and show specific strategies to use to solve various problems. I use a specific list of problem solving strategies which are extremely beneficial in solving word problems.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I received my education degree from St. Joseph's University. I earned my M.B.A. from Rutgers University. I earned my masters in Psychology from Indiana State University. I've been teaching for over 20 years. I have taught at colleges, high schools and middle schools. This unique experience of having been involved in all levels of mathematics education makes it possible for me to relate to each individual student at their level in language and examples that they understand and relate to.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
People I knew asked me to help their children with some high school math subjects. Before I knew it I had four students that I was helping. Then a friend of mine told me about Thumbtack and I started to get even more students.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I work with students in high school, college, and graduate school. I work with students ages 11-18 as well as adults who are returning to college to earn their college diploma. My youngest student was 11; my oldest in his 80's! Many of my students are adults who are returning to school to further their education and their math skills are a little rusty. They've told me that they like my style and sense of humor. They also appreciate my flexibility when it comes to scheduling appointments and especially when "last minute" things happen and their time has to be changed.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I recently helped a high school student increase his SAT scores and because of his improvement , he won a $20,000. Scholarship! I also just helped Ethan raise his SAT math score by 130 points, and Rachel raised her math score by 80 points and is now attending Drexel University.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Look for a minimum of five years experience. Excellent reviews on the Thumbtack website. It's important to look for a personality that clicks with yours and your child's.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Think about what your getting for your money. When you hire me you have the peace of mind that you're working with a seasoned professional with over 20 years experience and a track record of helping students achieve their goals. My style is both unique and fun; I combine real world experience with a practical approach to solving problems.
