What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

My in-person rate increases the further I need to travel from Albany CA ($150 to $200 an hour). My rate is $100/hour for online tutoring via zoom. My rate is $70/hour for online tutoring during the summer session. Discounts available for setting up a weekly recurring session. If you live or meet me near Albany CA my rate will be $150/hour. If you want to have a group class with other students so you can share the cost of my rate with other parents then we can arrange that.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I would like get as much background information about the student/tutee that I will be supporting during our session. Examples of background information include subject (such as calculus, chemistry, physics, ect.), topic (adding fractions, finding the derivative, electronic configurations, ect.), learning differences that the student may have or areas in which the student struggles, student's strengths and weaknesses. If the student can explain this to me even better!

I am currently a math and science teacher working at a private school in Albany, CA where I have worked for 11 years and have 16 years of experience tutoring at community colleges, I also supervised math tutors at UC Berkeley Academic Service Centers, briefly worked at Mathnasium of Piedmont, and worked for the nonprofit organization Making Waves Education Program in Richmond, CA. I have tutored and taught students of all age groups but I have worked the most with high school and college students. I have also been tutoring online since 2019. I have worked online with students from all over the USA but I have worked the most with students from the states of California, Texas, and Florida.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

My first job was working as a math and science tutor at Rio Hondo Community College.

What types of customers have you worked with?

Mainly high school and college students. Most of my clients are remote learning online.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Good tutors are expensive and experience matters especially if you are trying to find a tutor that can explain math and science concepts in a way that is tailored to a students needs. Experience is also important if you are looking for a good AP (Advance Placement), ACT, and SAT tutor.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

How much are you willing to pay for tutoring sessions and how can you also be involved after the tutoring sessions in order to maximize the results of each tutoring session.
