Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My basic hourly rate for one-on-one online lessons on Zoom or Skype is $75. Prices for groups and half-/ full-day workshops, webinars, and keynote speeches on request. Share your course/ lessons/ training sessions with someone and share the cost or pay for 10 hours in advance to get a discount!

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I offer a free 30-min online or phone consultation for new clients to discuss their situation, needs, and expectations and to be able to devise a step-by-step training plan before meeting the client for their first lesson or coaching session. Lessons can be arranged whenever needed on a flexible basis. The lesson content is highly individualized and can be adjusted any time to meet the client's goals and objectives.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
As a language teacher, intercultural and diversity coach, and communication skills trainer with both a linguist and a business degree, teaching qualifications, coaching certificates, and more than 25 years of experience, I am a professional and resourceful trainer to rely on. I can draw on many years of combined experience in language and intercultural training, coaching, professional development, and business.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I was lucky enough to have had a truly international life gaining intercultural experience and developing my language skills. I have always worked in Training and Development or Communications/ PR, and eventually decided to become a full-time teacher, trainer and coach when the opportunity arose. I thrive on being able to pass on my knowledge, skills, and experience, and to make a difference in people's lives.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Large corporate organizations, relocation companies, small local businesses, language schools, training organizations, executives, professionals, and private individuals; people from all walks of life and cultural backgrounds.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I am currently working with a business executive on a language and intercultural training initiative and teambuilding to improve communication and working relations (USA/ Germany). Moreover, I have just recently provided a number of individualized training courses for test preparation (TOEFL and IELTS) and was thrilled to hear that my students were able to get the score they needed. I am also excited to bring many of my individual German learners together and offer three different online German group courses now.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Make sure providers are honest about their experience, can customize a program to fit your needs, are flexible to incorporate changes, and use a mixture of purchased and self-made materials. Seasoned trainers will always have a good selection of self-made materials they have developed over time and not only standard teaching materials. If you are looking for a coach, meet them for a free consultation to see, if like the person. Being able to connect with your coach is essential for successful coaching sessions.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What is my goal? What are milestones on the way to my goal? What is my time frame to achieve these milestones and my final goal? How much self-study time am I able and willing to put in? What are my expectations? What is my budget? When am I available and how flexible am I?
