What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

For pre-planned tutoring sessions I charge $75/hour.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I typically use the first half of the first session to get to know my client. It's extremely important to build a meaningful connection with my students because if they can't trust me or like me, they won't learn from me. I love getting to know their history in school from their perspective and what they feel works the best for them, and then telling them a little about myself - more often than not, I'm able to help students feel understood and less afraid of the tutoring process. Aside from that, I typically like to talk to parents/the client on the phone first just to hear what they're looking for before then sending along my contract to sign. After this, we solidify our dates and can get started as soon as the next day!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have been working in the education field for the past 13 years in multiple capacities! I have worked as a tutor both privately, and for a company, and have been a teacher in both the public and private school realms.

What types of customers have you worked with?

From the neurotypical to the neurodiverse, I have worked with clients indiscriminately. In my current school, all my students are neurodiverse in some capacity and I work with them on a 1:1 basis. That being said, I have also worked with honors students, college and graduate students, and students who present as "typical," so I'd say I've worked with all kinds of students :)

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure you have an actual connection with your tutor! It's not enough that a tutor is smart - they should speak your "language" and help you truly understand the material.
