Online and in person tutoring available I have tutored 1,000's of students and held positions from private tutoring all math subjects up to calculus to instructing classroom size test prep courses for tutoring centers for the ACT, SAT, and HSPT with success. I am a dedicated tutor who works carefully to tailor lessons to individual students, using flash cards, informal questioning, computer activities (Quizlet, quia.com), etc. I do tutoring for my school--I teach 10th grade and 10th grade honors English-- and I have tutored and helped English students with paper editing and CAHSEE and CST, ACT, and SAT Prep. This past school year, I tutored English for a middle school student, and I also helped three high seniors prepare-and score highly-on ACT and SAT tests. These students make it seven high school/middle school students I've tutored in English/test prep (I also tutor Spanish). For example, in September/October of 2014, I tutored a high school senior who was preparing for her second SAT test. Our approximately eight weeks of work together resulted in an 80 point jump in her verbal/writing score. My test prep includes vocabulary building, computer exercises using the College Board website, and guided practice with immediate feedback. I love to impart my passion for learning and literature, and I love working with idealistic young people who renew my passion for teaching daily. I love working with students whose stories and families and resolve inspire me.

As a Harvard graduate, non-profit founder, and dedicated mentor with 9 years of teaching experience, I offer comprehensive guidance throughout the application, from academic/EC consulting to SAT/ACT test prep to crafting a college list and writing the essays. At the core of my process, I help students explore three fundamental parts of themselves and their high school experience: the story that makes them who they are, the curious fire inside that influences the way they think, and how they ultimately plan to impact the world. From there, we strategize around how their activities, passion projects, academics, and college essays are proof of an underlying purpose and drive to succeed. Over the years, I’ve helped countless students get into top 4-year universities and Ivy Leagues such as Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Columbia, Wharton, USC, Tufts, Georgetown, NYU, and more. I have experience helping students build out passion projects, apply to internships, and submit for essay competitions such as Scholastic and NCTE. I also teach many of my students SAT/ACT and have been in test prep for 6+ years now. I’m happy to just do test prep, subject tutoring, or essay editing for clients who are looking for services other than college counseling. I’m experienced, ambitious, and work hard for my students!
