Writing, ACT/SAT, Spanish, and English Tutoring

I am a dedicated tutor who works carefully to tailor lessons to individual students, using flash cards, informal questioning, computer activities (Quizlet, quia.com), etc. I do tutoring for my school--I teach 10th grade and 10th grade honors English-- and I have tutored and helped English students with paper editing and CAHSEE and CST, ACT, and SAT Prep. This past school year, I tutored English for a middle school student, and I also helped three high seniors prepare-and score highly-on ACT and SAT tests. These students make it seven high school/middle school students I've tutored in English/test prep (I also tutor Spanish). For example, in September/October of 2014, I tutored a high school senior who was preparing for her second SAT test. Our approximately eight weeks of work together resulted in an 80 point jump in her verbal/writing score. My test prep includes vocabulary building, computer exercises using the College Board website, and guided practice with immediate feedback. I love to impart my passion for learning and literature, and I love working with idealistic young people who renew my passion for teaching daily. I love working with students whose stories and families and resolve inspire me.
