Introduction

I am basically a retired Nuclear Engineer with three computer science degrees consisting of a BS in Computer Science, an AS in Computer Technology, and an AS in Electronic Technology. Over the last 50 years, I have tutored and taught high school and college students Math, Calculus, Physics, Chemistry, and SAT/ACT prep. I am a dynamic and high energy person that provides students with expert motivation in order for them to master the course content and thereby achieving high test scores. I have access to textbooks, workbooks, lecture notes, cheat sheets, power point lectures, and quizzes and exams given by local high schools and colleges that can be used as reference material if needed. I will focus on your understanding the subject matter and test preparation. Seeing the student along with their parents light up with the knowledge that wasn't so hard after all. I enjoy passing the knowledge and experience I have to the young students.

$30.00 per hour

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

The first session usually is where we can see if we are compatible or not. I listen to see what the student wants (parents included) and then produce a plan to meet their desired objectives.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I graduated from the Navy's Nuclear Engineering, Electrical, and Electronic Engineering Schools. Obtained a BS Degree in Computer Science from Chapman University in Orange County, and dual AS Degrees in Computer Technology and Electronic Technology from Grossmont College in El Cajon, CA. I have tutored over 350 students during the last 30+ years in Elementary Math through Calculus, Physics, and Chemistry with excellent results. Encompassing SATs, ACTs, AP Calculus, AP Chemistry, and AP Physics. I taught Math and Calculus at Sun Microsystems to write programs for their systems. I also covered Math and Calculus with engineers at Lockheed to understand the orbits of the Satellites and the Shuttle in space.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I have been tutoring for about 50 years. It started when I was in the Navy and wanted to do something during my off time. Therefore I started helping other Engineers with their understanding of Math, Chemistry, and Physics. I also have been a Senior Instructor for the Navy, Zilog, Lockheed Martin, and Sun Microsystems.

What types of customers have you worked with?

From the 1st grade through High School, College, and Adult Courses for job improvement.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

Taking a 5th grader from a C in Elementary Math to an A an all of other subjects improved and her study time needed decreased. Also helping a Junior High School Student improve his AB Calculus grade. Both of these took about 3 months

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Check them out, run a background check and along with a fingerprint check, check their qualifications and meet at a place of your choosing.

Does the tutor have the background qualifications and experience to help? What is expected time it should to complete the project?
