I love tutoring and have enjoyed working with students of all ages for over fifteen years. I teach all subjects for students in elementary and middle school, and I teach humanities (English, writing, grammar, ESL, history, literature, etc.) for students of any age. Much of my experience has been helping students prepare for standardized tests like the ISEE/HSPT and the verbal portions of ACT/SAT.
My experience includes working with students with learning differences. I first taught at Landmark School, a school in Massachusetts for students with language-based learning differences. Landmark was a wonderful place to begin learning the craft of teaching; its educational philosophy stresses the importance of both honoring a student’s unique learning style and modifying curriculum to meet particular needs. Because of my experience at Landmark, I am able to specialize in teaching phonics, reading comprehension and writing.
My undergraduate education at St. John’s College also prepared me well for a career in teaching. Its Great Books Program asks students to read many of the great works of literature, philosophy, science and math that have influenced Western culture. This curriculum is an excellent foundation for a career in teaching because it not only introduces students to a broad range of subjects, but it teaches how to approach any text—no matter the difficulty—in order to gain insight and understanding from it.
I truly delight in tutoring and in the one-on-one camaraderie that is built through the tutor-student relationship. It is a privilege to help students work through areas of frustration and watch how their confidence and initiative can grow through academic support. Most of all, I enjoy helping students cultivate the curiosity and wonder that is part of the learning process. As a doctorate student myself, I know how challenging school can be, but I also know its rewards; I look forward to sharing such rewards with my students.

SoFlo Test Prep is a team of top-scoring tutors who provide exceptional SAT and ACT tutoring tailored to each student's strengths and weaknesses. We have even created our own digital platform for the SAT with over 40 practice exams. Our students who complete our program see their SAT scores rise by 200+ points and their ACT scores increase by 5+ points.
Who are we?
At SoFlo, our tutors scored in the top 1% on the SAT/ACT, come from top schools like Princeton and Georgetown, and are SAT/ACT experts. We have 5.0 ratings on Google, Yelp, and Thumbtack. Even before COVID, all of our tutoring was 1-on-1 over Zoom, so our entire program is built around online tutoring.
How are we so effective?
Our tutors use SoFlo's proven three-step method: assessment, strategy, and practice. Students start with our free diagnostic test, so we can gather data and build a study plan to target areas of weakness. Students will then meet 1-on-1 with a tutor to introduce SAT/ACT strategies, teach the fundamentals of the test, and review homework problems. We are constantly learning, training, and preparing our tutors for excellence. Our tutors are dedicated to their students and perfecting their skills.
What materials do we provide?
Diagnostic Test: Assess your child's strengths and weaknesses, determine specific topic areas to review.
Homework: 1-2 hours of homework per week, assignments are real SAT/ACT tests from the last several years. In class, we turn mistakes from homework into learning opportunities.
Online Modules: Access to real SAT/ACT tests with answers and explanation videos, tips and tricks specific to each section of the test, supplemental worksheets for students who want extra practice.
When are we available?
We are very flexible when it comes to scheduling. We will meet on days and times that fit your schedule. Because tutoring is 1-on-1 over Zoom, you can pick your time.
What is your pricing?
We offer our Test Prep services on a pay-as-you-go basis. Our Core price is $75/hour, and our Premium price is $100/hour. This price includes all diagnostic tests, homework, and online learning modules.
