Introduction

I am a former high school teacher and department chair. I am a published author, historian, Language Arts & Social Studies teacher, Academic Coach, and entrepreneur, having built several successful businesses. Please ask me for a free consultation so I can learn about your needs and you can see if my approach is right for you and your student. No obligations. I work with middle and high school and college students across the country by videoconference. I help with the SAT & ACT reading sections prep, essay writing & reading skills, and all Language Arts and Social Studies classes, including AP and IB. I also help students with their organization, study and executive function skills. Please be careful about hiring someone for both Reading and Math SAT prep, as those are vastly different skills. I specialize in the verbal section, and I am good at teaching it. If you need SAT Math or other math/science class help, I have a team of experienced tutors who specialize in those subjects. As an experienced classroom teacher and academic coach, I know the curriculum, pedagogy, and right approaches for academic success. The A+ Club story: I developed the A+ Club in 2011 as a high school teacher with a simple yet powerful idea: when students articulate their goals and responsibilities, and when they receive ongoing and positive encouragement, they are more likely to fulfill them. When kids build academic ownership, their grades go up, and their parents are not just relieved, but happy! Michael Bromley Arlington, VA 22204 School4Schools LLC

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Our monthly support program starts at $135 per month with a $50 setup fee, which covers loading student information into our system and setting up our services for daily academic and parental oversight support. Tutoring sessions can be included in our monthly support program for $25-$50 per hour. Our direct tutoring program starts at $40 / hour for video-conference tutoring. In-person tutoring costs $65-$80 per hour depending on travel requirements for our tutors. We only tutor in-person in the DC Metro area. We offer discounts for regularly scheduled tutoring sessions.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
To get started, I will want to speak to a parent by phone in order to identify your student's needs. We will then arrange a no-obligations, free consultation with both parent/s and student in order to provide feedback and make sure our program is correct for both student and parent/s.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
We use the latest technologies, we monitor education developments, and we are always learning from child psychology and behavioral motivation fields. Above all, our teachers put themselves into a state of constant professional and personal improvement that they apply to our students. We are especially interested in helping students who face executive function (organization, time management) challenges, ADHD and procrastination.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I fell into teaching after a successful business career. After 10 years teaching high school history, I decided to combine my love for business with my love for teaching kids with the A Club!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We can help students improve in specific subjects, but we mostly want to help kids improve as students in general. That's our specialty and what makes us different from the rest.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We love it when our students gain confidence and start performing better in class and at studying. We also love it when our parents are so relieved that their child has gotten effective and affordable help. Recently, a parent wrote to thank us for helping her son build a B average for the first time in high school. She was thrilled by his academic success. And she was equally thrilled that she could now qualified for "good student" car insurance prices!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Find someone who is honest, dedicated, organized, consistent and communicates well. Getting initial help is one things, but you want follow-through and full feedback on your child's standing and progress.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
We truly care about our clients.
