Introduction

I offer individual tutoring for all middle school, high school and college mathematics, physics and computer science classes and all standardized exams. I come with more than twenty years of teaching and tutoring experience, pedagogical know-how, educational resources, and am always professional. I welcome any interested parties to contact me regarding my services. A little about myself. I was enrolled in a top mathematical high school and won multiple mathematical olympiads starting at a young age. I graduated from university with honors and the highest departmental distinction. While at the university I served as a teaching assistant and tutored other students. Math, physics, computer science, and teaching are still my big passions. I’ve taught math classes at a private school as well as tutored students of all ages and all levels. I am committed to helping students succeed in any course. I guide the students in their understanding and comprehension of solutions rather than give them answers to everything immediately. This way they are appropriately challenged and become excited in being able to solve problems they never imagined they could. My tutoring style is friendly, yet directed. I do my best to make our time working together count. And I am extremely good at identifying problem areas and working with students to strengthen them. I have a unique gift for clearly explaining concepts and methods, and outlining step-by-step approaches to problems that greatly aid student understanding. I am flexible and will make sure you get the knowledge and understanding of material out of our tutoring sessions.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I offer a significant discount for group lessons. I also offer free ongoing support to my students with homework questions between our sessions.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
It usually start with an initial consultation over the phone. At this point, we establish the goals. Depending on the outcome of this conversation the first session may be dedicated to the diagnostic test where we work through a set of problems. This helps us to identify the current level of the student. As a result of the above steps I create a personalized plan for the student.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

How did you get started doing this type of work?

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have tutored students of all ages and levels. Here are a few examples: - A college student that is having difficulty with college algebra. - A graduate student that needs programming help for her thesis. - A high school senior who needs help with AP Calculus course. - An 11th grader that needs to prepare for the SAT. - A 9th grader that needs help with a physics lab. - An 8th grader who is behind in math and needs to catch up before entering highschool. - A 4th grader who would like to learn Python programming.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I received a call from a parent that complained that her son is failing geometry. During the first session, I evaluated the level of the student by working through a series of algebra and geometry problems. We then started to work on the remediation of the areas that are necessary for understanding geometry. After 3-4 month the student was able to catch up to the class level and raised his grade to a strong A.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
I strongly advise looking for an experienced tutor with a proven track record. Look for somebody who will offer a solution for your particular situation and will not give you a standard, one size fits all, solution. Look for somebody who will be dedicated to the student not just during the session time but is available to answer questions whenever they arise.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
The main question that you have to decide before seeking a tutor - what would you like to achieve. Create a realistic goal and communicate it to a tutor. The good tutor should be able to tell you - what will it take to achive this goal.
