Introduction

During your sessions, you will receive caring and clear direction with efficient and effective solutions. I will provide help that is tailored to your specific needs as I draw from a wide range of approaches. You will quickly begin developing a more positive direction for yourself and your relationships. I have been practicing as a Psychotherapist for 40 years and have a Doctorate in Clinical Psychology, providing Individual and Marriage Therapy, Personal and Spiritual Growth. By tuning into you on multiple levels, and getting to the bottom of what is happening, I will help you become aware of what needs to be addressed, and provide techniques and processes to help you heal and move forward. Please read my reviews. I do not bill insurance. I often provide "homework" that will serve you between sessions.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Because I am getting started on Thumbtack, I am offering a sliding scale for a limited time.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
We start with either a no cost phone call or a 20 minute no cost video, which helps you get to know how I work and I get to know more about you. I will ask various questions to get to know what is happening for you and what you want from therapy. Then, we will schedule an hour session as soon as convenient.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
BA with High Honors in Psychology from Clark University, minors in Biology and Comparative Cognitive Anthropology. MA and PhD in Clinical Psychology from Georgia State University. In total, 40 years of a wide range of training and experience and I have developed my own approaches, like many seasoned therapists.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I knew I wanted to be a Psychologist when I was 14, and joke about how I let a 14-year-old determine my life path. Really, it is my life calling.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with literally over 10 thousand people in various settings and capacities over the decades. I view each person as a unique manifestation, having their own history and way of doing things. I apply many frameworks for understanding but in the end, each person is unique. I do not work with sexual abuse perpetrators, eating disorders or severe addiction.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I am fond of all of my clients. Time varies. It's not home repair, LOL.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Most importantly, make sure that you get along and feel they are helpful. Many therapists really don't provide everything they could offer, because in many training programs, therapists are taught to help the client figure things out. While this approach is great for many people, if you want to move more quickly through your issues, find someone who will offer a lot during each session.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
For each person, this will be different. Most people have tried figuring out how to improve their lives prior to coming to therapy, and have a fairly good idea what things are not right, not how they want them to be. One of the main benefits of therapy is to get educated and experienced outside perspective that will help you see, and think about, your self and your issues differently. This is a collaboration with the client, that in a sense, is to help remake each clients perspective, truth, and how they behave. So, there is no need to overthink things before hand.
