Introduction

The Grout Medic has been servicing the Chicagoland area since 1996. Our steam vapor cleaning process achieves exceptional results without dangerous chemicals or chemical residue while being completely safe for the environment. We take great pride in our work and the delivery of outstanding service. Of course, saying that is easy. How do we back that up? We are a member of the National Tile Contractors Association, which gives us access to information on the latest products and techniques in the industry. We have received the Angies List Super Service Award for each of the last thirteen years (2024-2012), which covers the years when we've been active on that site full-time. We have been recognized as a Neighborhood Favorite by Nextdoor. Neighborhood Favorites is a unique business awards program based on positive recommendations from neighbors living in the local community. We have been recognized as a Top Rated and Elite provider by Angie (formerly Home Advisor), the nation's largest online home improvement marketplace. These ratings are based on feedback from customers who have found us through the Angi site. Again, many of our competitors have not received this honor. We have been Accredited and have an A+ rating with The Better Business Bureau. To be Accredited, we submit to a vetting process to determine that we meet the BBB accreditation standards, and we commit to making a good-faith effort to resolve any customer complaints. While our competitors may have a favorable rating, they are not accredited. They have not been subject to the same vetting process, nor have they made the same commitment to addressing any complaints should they arise. How do we achieve this? It is our people. Each of our technicians takes an ownership interest in their projects. We go out of our way to exceed your expectations every time. The work we do in people's homes is something they will see each day. It's a great feeling to leave a project and know that the positive feeling you brought to the homeowner will carry on each time they pause to look at the area, be it bathroom, kitchen floor or marble countertop

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Because each project can have subtle differences, we complete free on-site estimates for all jobs and establish prices, in most cases, that we review with you at that appointment. We do offer discounts on our website.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Our contact center calls or can email to get your pertinent information into our system. We then schedule a free estimate. At the estimate we review the needs for your project(s) and develop a proposal which, if appropriate, may have options for different service levels or uncertainties that may exist (e.g. extent of water damage behind tiles). Your proposal is emailed to you. You can decide to schedule work when the estimate is completed or you can contact us to schedule once a decision has been made.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
The Grout Medic has been operating since 1996. Our technicians typically have significant experience in construction and tile instillation. We also have a formal training program for all new technicians that come on board. This all is supplemented by being a member of the National Tile Contractors Associaion (NTCA) and training provided by The Grout Medic franchisor.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
After working in corporate America and commercial real estate, I purchased The Grout Medic in 2011 as I looked to be more entrepreneurial. Coupling my previous business experience with the proven resources of The Grout Medic has allowed us to build a successful business that provides a valuable service to our customers.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
We primarily focus on residential customers but also serve commercial and industrial customers like restaurants, office buildings and warehouses.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We recently had a customer that had moved into a new home where the grout on the main floor of the home had been neglected. We completed a deep cleaning of the grout, cleaned the tile and then applied a color seal to the grout. The end result was to restore the flooring in the customers new home to a like new condition.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
We have been recognized for our work and achieved several awards from companies like Thumbtack. Examples include having won the Super Service Award from Angi for nine years running, being accredited by the Better Business Bureau (BBB) for several years and having several positive reviews on sites like Nextdoor, Yelp! and Google. If potential customers compare the reputation of us with others we might be in competition with, they will find that we are the best. So to your question, we suggest customers compare us to anyone else they are considering and we believe we will come out on top on quality, price and customer service.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What is the process they will follow for the project? What is their warranty? How long have they been in business? How do they feel they distinguish themselves from their competition?
