What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I’ve been working in the trades my whole life — it’s what I know and what I love. Before starting MJB Construction in 2018, I spent years learning the ins and outs of construction hands-on, from demo to finish work. That real-world experience taught me the value of doing the job right the first time, treating customers with respect, and always standing behind my work. At MJB, those same values guide every project we take on.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
My journey in the trades started early — working alongside my grandpa in his wood shop when I was just a kid. That’s where I learned the value of craftsmanship, hard work, and paying attention to the little details. From there, I kept building my skills on job sites, learning every part of the trade from the ground up. In 2018, I took everything I’d learned and started MJB Construction to offer homeowners honest, skilled remodeling with a personal touch.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
At MJB Construction, we’ve had the chance to work with all kinds of homeowners — from young families updating their first home to retirees looking to age in place safely and comfortably. We’ve helped busy professionals who need fast, reliable upgrades, and folks who’ve finally decided it’s time to turn their outdated bathroom into something they love. Whether it’s a simple one-day shower remodel or a full custom bathroom renovation, we take pride in delivering quality results and a stress-free experience to every customer — no matter the size or scope of the project.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
We recently wrapped up a bathroom remodel for a young couple who had just bought their first home. The space was outdated, with old tile, poor lighting, and zero storage. In just a few days, we transformed it into a clean, modern bathroom with a new walk-in shower, updated fixtures, fresh tile work, and custom-built shelving for storage. They wanted something functional, affordable, and stylish — and we delivered. The best part? They told us it’s now their favorite room in the house.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Hiring the right contractor can make or break your project. Here’s what I always tell homeowners to look for: Check Their Work – Ask to see photos of past projects or customer reviews. A good contractor should be proud to show their work. Ask About the Process – A reliable remodeler will walk you through their timeline, pricing, and what to expect—no vague answers. Get It in Writing – Make sure you get a detailed estimate and scope of work before the job starts. It protects both you and the contractor. Look for Experience – Choose someone who understands all parts of the job—from plumbing and tile to layout and design. It saves time, money, and stress. Go With Your Gut – Communication and trust matter. If something feels off during the estimate, it probably will be during the project too. At MJB Construction, we treat every home like it’s our own. Whether you hire us or someone else, make sure the person you choose is someone you trust to do the job right

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Before reaching out to a remodeling professional, it's a good idea to have a few key things in mind. Here are some important questions to consider: What’s your main goal for the remodel? Are you looking for a full transformation, better functionality, more storage, or just a fresh new look? What’s your budget range? Knowing what you’re comfortable spending helps guide the design and material choices right from the start. How do you use the space daily? Is it a busy family bathroom? A quiet retreat? Your daily routine should shape the layout and features. What styles or features do you like? Think about colors, tile designs, fixtures, or layout ideas you’ve seen and liked — Pinterest or Houzz boards can help. Do you have a timeline in mind? Whether you need it done quickly or have more flexibility, your timeline will help with planning and scheduling. Are there things you definitely want to change or keep? Identifying what’s not working — and what is — gives your contractor a clear starting point. The more you think through upfront, the smoother the process will be. And don’t worry — at MJB Construction, we’ll help you fill in the blanks and guide you every step of the way.
