What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a Bachelor of Arts with an emphasis in Communication from Mississippi State University, and am a Apple Certified Pro in Final Cut Pro.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I got my start at thirteen running cameras for the live broadcast of weekly services at my church. The station director introduced me to independent film a few years later, and I haven't looked back. I've made a career working on independent films, corporate videos, and larger television programming for outlets like the Food Network.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I’ve worked with everyone from couples getting married, owners of businesses, and executive directors of large non-profit organizations.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I frequently work with an organization that runs a drug and alcohol rehab center and homeless shelter. They were looking to promote one of their programs called "Home Again," and I worked with marketing staff to create a video for a Wizard of Oz themed social media drive. The video we created together took subtle elements of the Wizard of Oz and translated them into a modern setting to tell the story of a young woman who was searching for way out of homelessness. The project took about a month in total. It was such a satisfying challenge to take iconic elements from this beloved film and rework them to portray the message that we set out to tell.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Story is king. Customers of your business or donors to your non-profit are more concerned with how what you do is going to either enrich their lives or their community. For example, the power company doesn't just provide power, but provides the nightlight that soothes a scared child. Finding these distinctions allows you go beyond conveying facts and touch the heart.
