Introduction

We work economically, so we can keep our prices affordable, but with the affordability we give a lot of personal attention to details such as lighting and editing, so that the final product shows your moment in its best light - Shining! We've added Live Streaming to our repertoire of services, but at a level higher than cell phone video! We're offering Multi-camera streaming and recording with the use of a switcher, with gives our customers a near broadcast quality product, using our matched 4K cameras. I personally, like the variety of shooting video in different venues, interacting with different people and producing the best creative results for our clients.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Our pricing includes services beyond the actual production. Once the production is completed, post-production begins. Post-production includes color grading, editing, assembly, syncing, scoring, art design, rendering, publication and packaging. Depending on our workload, Post-production can take from 3 to 6 weeks after a production.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Generally, upon agreeing on the work to be produced and the price to be paid, I draft a contract and present it to the customer for review. Once the language is agreed upon, we meet for a closing at which time a deposit is paid securing the date of service. Depending on the event, we usually require early entry to the venue (one to two hours prior to the start of the event) and about an hour after the event for setup/breakdown. The post production process varies with our bookings and capacity for work. Deliverables are usually published DVD’s in bound cases, which vary according to the package purchased and agreed to in the contract. However, in the case of live streaming, there may or may not be a physical product produced. In any case, we don’t work without a contract.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
As a member of SEMPTE, (Society of Motion Picture and Television Engineers), I attend seminars to stay abreast with the latest technology. I also subscribe to video trade magazines and publications and periodically take online courses to update and refresh my skills. We also attend trade seminars to keep abreast of current trends.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started videography as a hobbyist, by producing a documentary film for our family reunion in the late 1980’s and early 1990’s. In the production, I enlisted the talents and skills of my siblings and cousins to conduct interviews of our senior family members, collected on beta, VHS and 8mm analog tapes. I wrote my first script and the team I had assembled assisted with artwork, voiceover narration and post-production editing, creating a not-too-shabby first effort film on VHS tape. As time went on, I continued to hone my knowledge, craftwork and skills while continuing my career as a local government professional. I earned my BFA in Graphic Arts and Visual Communication and my MBA in Project Management while honing my skills in Videography and editing. After retirement, I partnered with some some others to form a video production company. After some creative and business differences cause our separation, I spun-off as a sole proprietorship and Walton Specialty Video was born in 2014.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Our primary customers have been couples. These couples having either getting married or having Anniversary celebrations. However, our business model has moved to more commercial work and religious service live streaming.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
In the Winter of 2014, I was commissioned by a local community organization to bring attention to some dilapidated buildings in the area. On the coldest day of the year, I began the video, focusing on the buildings in their deplorable conditions. After producing a 5 minute "mini" documentary of their conditions, I worked with the community organization to get the video into the hands of the Mayor and the City Council for review. The Mayor's office responded by sending his Chief of Staff to the area to see the conditions first-hand. Soon after, the first of the buildings was razed and removed, to the delight of the community! It's still a work in progress, but the mini-documentary can be seen on our website.
