What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I think it's best if we can speak directly so that I can fully understand their vision for the final product and as a direct way to ask and answer questions.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

It's impossible not to attend seminars and trainings on equipment and technique if one wants to grow as a professional while also being open to sharing with and learning from other professionals along the way.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

Personal storytelling, commercial messaging and, above all, informing, involving and inspiring people around issues of importance have always been an incredibly strong passion for me.

What types of customers have you worked with?

There is really no one typical project. I have done everything from personal family histories to commercial marketing work. While very different in terms of application, the common threads are that I am typically asked to be a creative partner in realizing a project's vision and that I look to make each project unique and reflective of its creator, whether it be a wedding or advertisement.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

In one case, I was happy to help a non-profit organization tell its story in such a compelling way that it attracted a major donor. In another, I was privileged to help a client resurrect living images of long-passed relatives that were thought to be beyond salvation and knit them together into a story that gave a first-person account of that family's history.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Make sure there is a strong fit between your vision, purpose & needs and the filmmaker's skills. Make sure they are as passionate about your project as you are.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

I most wish for folks to understand the technical skill and detail orientation required to make their project the best it can be. It's important to me that folks know how serious about and how emotionally invested I become in their projects and that I treat each one as though it were my own, regardless of subject matter.
