Introduction

Hello! My name is Larry Elyea, I own Mind's Eye Digital Productions. I've been in business since 1993. I own a recording studio and a video production studio. I have been nominated for a Grammy, and won 3 Telly Awards for commercials I've created/shot/edited. I love making records, I have probably made over 200 records and hundreds of singles. I love making visual stories about your life, your company, your relationship. So I make documentary films, wedding films, commercials, social media ads, etc. I love what I do, I'm very easy going and my only goal is to deliver your project at the best of my abilities, and communicate so it's the way YOU want it. I'm passionate about recording and film making, be it a big or smaller project, so don't hesitate to contact me. My work can be seen on my website.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My pricing is not the cheapest, not the most expensive. I believe in offering a fair price for my work, that reflects the quality of the final product. I often have clients that say i should charge more;)

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Communication. Most important thing. Everyone needs to be on the same page in order for any project to come out how the client wants it. Typical process is a pre-production meeting so we can figure out all the details and nothing is missed.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have over 25 years experience as a Recording Engineer/Producer, and 7 years experience as a DOP/Director.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started recording as a need. I paid a few studios to record my own music, and was never happy. Started doing it myself and other artists took notice. Kinda snowballed into a career. Film i got into by mixing soundtracks for feature films. Becoming friends with a Director and fell in love with the process. A lot of the skills i built from making music translated into film making.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
All types. I love making pop records. I love making metal records, hip-hop, rock. I love making wedding films, brand videos, commercials, music videos and short films. Variety is the spice of life so i like do all these types of projects, and i have a method for excelling at each in different ways.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Just finished a wedding film. I love making them. Everyone is happy and its such a positive environment. Wedding films take 2 people all day to shoot, and about a 3-4 day edit to do them the way i like to. It's a lot of time invested, but for something that lasts forever, it's worth it.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Id say look at the work, if you like it and its inspires you or gets you smiling, then talk on the phone or meet. Then you see if your personalities mesh. If they do, and the provider understands what your looking to achieve, then your on the right path to a successful project.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What is an appropriate budget? Sometimes clients do not understand the amount of time a project takes and undervalue it. Important to ask what is the average budget for the type of project and the quality you're looking for. With audio and video, quality is easy to judge, all you have to do is listen/look at the work and see if it meets your standards or above. Make sure the work is in line with your standards before even reaching out.
