Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I typically estimate project pricing based on an hourly rate and project complexity, but often offer discounts on larger projects or bundled services (ex. real estate photos + drone photo/video). For new customers, I charge 25% of the project estimate upon booking, 25% (7) days prior to the scheduled date, and 50% upon complete delivery of the booked service.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
After the initial exchange of messages through Thumbtack, I appreciate speaking with customers over the phone to get a better understanding of their project so I can quote it accurately. I like to nail down dates/times as quickly as possible so I can get it set on my (rather busy) calendar.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I’m an FAA certified UAS (drone) pilot and have a professional background in project and business management. As a small business owner, I focus on people, relationships, and quality work.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I worked in Project Management and Vendor Management in the Design/Build industry for many years and decided to pivot when that began to feel stagnant. I had been flying drones recreationally and decided to give the professional side a shot. I had been an avid amateur photographer for a long time and the technology of aerial cameras sparked the motivation to start my own business.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Real estate brokers/agents, homeowners, aerial imaging companies, outdoor guides, outdoor recreation authors, general contractors.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Be specific about your expectations. The better I know exactly what you want, the more easily I can complete your project in a timely, thorough, and quality manner.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Are there specific images that they have in mind? What are the must-get shots? Do they prefer more video or still photos?
