What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I always work with my clients to find a fee that is fair for both parties. And if we get to the end of the project and I feel I quoted too high, I will be sure to let you know, and readjust the final payment to reflect the amount of value and work I brought to your project.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

First is always a meeting, whether in person, on a video call, or a normal call. I talk to each of my clients to make sure I fully understand their vision for the project and what is important to them about it. Then I film the video, and at the requested deadline I provide a first draft. I use Frame.io to share drafts with clients—it lets them comment right on the video at specific timecodes so the client does not have to waste their time going back and forth explaining what changes they want made. Once everyone is happy with the video, I send over a download link, as well as (if requested) all the raw footage for the project in the event they want to use it for anything else.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I am an award-winning filmmaker in my documentary work and narrative short films. I take all the knowledge I use to make those films to create the best product possible for my clients. I am also an alum of CU Boulder's BFA film production program.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

This is where I am supposed to talk about Steven Spielberg or "Star Wars," but nah. It was "Harry Potter" for me.

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have worked with all sorts of people and companies; from Nike, Paramount, and Syngenta to motivational speakers, new hires filming a LinkedIn update, and documentary film producers.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

What are you trying to say with this video? Who is your audience, and how long do you have their attention for? Are there any videos you’d like to take influence from for yours? What do you need to help you make your video? Do you need a teleprompter so you don’t have to memorize your lines? I have one! Do you need someone who will show up to set on time and deliver products by your deadline? That’s me!
