Introduction

Music is my life. Music is an expression of who I am and what I like to bring to the world. My services are threefold. I am a performer (Vocals and Guitar) and a music educator. For more than 25 years, I have provided award winning musical services as a solo vocalist with guitar, duo, trio and full band, playing tunes from Standards, Easy Listening to Classic Rock and Originals. My Band has been a Yamaha Ticketmaster awardee and have played from small private venues to large stages such as the Redondo Beach Performing Arts Center, Hermosa Community Theater, Santa Barbara Jazz Festival, Manhattan Beach Fireworks Festival, Americana Fireworks Festival, Los Angeles Marathon and more. Employers include private parties, hotels, community centers, cities and government agencies. I am also a Musical Director for numerous stage musicals, a church music director and a Music teacher for Grades 1-8 which has provided a curriculum basis for Private Lessons. I teach private Vocal lessons, using time tested methodology that is appropriate for beginners to seasoned singers. I also teach guitar and ukulele and have been popular for putting together "garage bands" for all ages to Adult. Finally, I am a songwriter who can assist you or your company with special musical dedications, infomercials or theme songs. Music has been my full time occupation for many years and the magic of music is found in each client or service I provide. I enjoy seeing the fun and fellowship that results from my performances as well as the special life's memories that can be made with music. I love the "big" moments when my students realize that they have accomplished so much and they are really playing music.

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

Pricing is contingent on many factors, but we want to work with you and will do our best to give you the best package possible. Basic packages range from $400-$800 Standard packages range from $1,000-$1,500 Premium packages range from $2,000-$2,400 High-end packages range from $3,200-$3,600

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We gather careful information about their needs and email contracts and agreements so that everything is in writing. We desire to fulfill their musical dreams and expectations, so communication is very important.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

All of the musicians/technicians working and performing with John Brown have degrees and/or a minimum of 15 years performing experience. This Band has played with members of the Eagles and Beach Boys. John Brown is currently finishing a Music Composition for Film, TV and Games professional degree with Berklee School of Music, a top-rated music grad program

How did you get started doing this type of work?

John Brown moved from San Francisco to Los Angeles for TV show role and never left! I opened shows for numerous Los Angeles concerts and settled in this area.

What types of customers have you worked with?

John Brown Entertainment has worked with every possible type of customer--small, private to huge corporations, in all settings. We pride ourselves in understanding our audiences and venues' sound considerations. As a teacher, I have worked with Ages 4-80.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I wrote the music for, and produced a full musical theater production with a team of actors, directors and choreographers. From start to first performance, it took about a year or more.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

If you're looking for an musical entertainer or D. J., know the hours and style you desire. Consider your venue and stage area location. Find out if the provider's prices are all inclusive or if sound is extra. Ask potential teachers how many years they have been working at their craft and if they prescribe to a particular method.
