Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
My services are varied. For standard vocal lessons I charge $100.00 per session. I have a sliding scale for younger students which works on a case to case basis. For recording the rate stays the same per hour. For music notation writing out songs it is $150.00 per song. I am happy to charge a flat rate for long term projects once again on a case to case basis.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I constantly study and work with music and a new generation of students and colleagues.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I started singing at age 3 and began learning instruments shortly thereafter. My initial university experience was very negative and for the first time in my life I lost my voice (after having my first vocal lessons. I was fortunate to find a new and great teacher and took responsibility for my own vocal talent and development. My best teachers all felt because of my love music and singing and of the process itself that it would be my destiny to become a teacher and help to carry on the tradition of Italian singing. It is a destiny that I have embraced with love and respect.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Build their confidence. Develop their vocal range and power. Instill in them a strong and definite technique. Help them find their own sound in what I refer to as "The Natural Voice". Remain as a friend and confidant as the make their way through their careers and sometime their entire lives.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
At this point in my life I was persuaded by a client to help him develop his music (he is a pop singer/songwriter by doing arranging and playing and subsequently recording him. I created a fully functioning recording studio in my home and now have the ability to make some high quality demo C.D.'s. It is both a revisiting of my past, arranging music and playing instruments to record and an exciting future endeavor. It has been amazingly rewarding, both artistically and business wise!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Find someone that you can get along with as well as respect. Do not work with someone who is condescending. It must be an equal partnership. Have high standards and expectations and if they are not met find a new teacher asap.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
That I am willing to work as hard as is needed to help an artist achieve their goals. The only thing that I expect is that they respect the process, their talent, themselves and their teacher! The business is hard and sometimes cruel but the personal reward and satisfaction is sublime.
