Introduction

Sunburst School of Music has been helping kids and adults get started with music and take their playing to the next level since 2011. Whether your goal is to play in a band, write songs, perform on stage, or just learn your favorites for fun, our patient and experienced instructors will work with you on a course of study to get you where you want to go in the world of music In our studio in the heart of Squirrel Hill we offer lessons for guitar, bass, drums, piano, voice (singing), ukulele and music production as well as group programs and performance opportunities. We have friendly, experienced, patient, qualified and fun instructors for all of our instruments. Our teachers all have either university training or professional performance experience and are here to help you take your playing to the next level. Taking lessons should be fun and all of our instructors love sharing their passion with you and helping you discover yours. We offer a variety of group programming including rock bands, a kids music exploration class, an a capella group and semi private lessons. All students are invited and encouraged to perform in our free seasonal recital concerts. Our studio is open 7 days per week to fit your busy schedule. Come visit our 3000 square foot studio, spacious waiting room, concert stage and in house recording facilities and let our friendly office staff get you started on your musical journey. What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

We do weekly lessons that are priced by the month rather than by the lesson. Most months have 4 lessons but its the same price when there are 5. Here are our rates: Weekly 30 minute lessons - $135 per month Weekly 45 minute lessons - $188 per month Weekly 60 minute lessons - $240 per month

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

For all new students we begin with a conversation about music to help our instructors get to know our student's taste, goals and prior experience. Our first lessons are about helping our students develop short term and long term goals for their playing and creating a practice routine and a lessons plan to get there. We also work in bits and pieces of the music that our student loves right from the very beginning to try to get them some of those small victories that are so important for sticking with it.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

Our instructors all have either university training or years of performance experience on their instrument and draw on this knowledge in all their lessons. Our school has been around since 2011 and we take pride in the selection and training of instructors who are friendly, patient and professional.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

Sunburst School of Music first opened in Squirrel Hill in 2011 with one instructor. Since then we've expanded with over a dozen instructors for guitar, bass, drums, piano, voice, ukulele, music production and DJing.

What types of customers have you worked with?

We work with students 4 and up and have taught beginner students in their 70's! We specialize in working with beginners and making music fun and approachable for all students.
