Introduction

There is no secret to singing - it comes from a lot of hard work and the desire to learn to sing with correct technique. Years ago (after having sung with less than stellar vocal technique) I was put on vocal rest for three months (no talking, singing, nada, zip!) while my vocal folds healed. I then had to completely rebuild my voice from the ground up. I am passionate about teaching correct vocal technique the first time around! I love hearing a student say - "That was easy!" Yes! Singing can be easy, when you learn how to do it correctly. These light-bulb moments are my favorite.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

I like to meet for a quick 20 min lesson to ask the student their goals/reasons for taking lessons, and give them a taste of how I approach teaching.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I hold a Bachelor of Music in Vocal Performance, and continue to study to further my own vocal training. I am also an active performer with solo, choral, film and stage experience.

What types of customers have you worked with?

My students range in ability from beginner to advanced, and in a wide age range from 10-72! Many students come from a variety of musical backgrounds, and some begin voice lessons with no previous musical training.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

You have to find the right teacher for you. Don't be afraid to ask for a free intro lesson and ask a lot of questions. Make sure any teacher you hire has the educational background and experience to support their teaching.
