Introduction

Hi my name is Barbra Horowitz of Intuitive Personal Styling & Guidance. Great news! I am the number one most hired stylist on Thumbtack with over 450 clients🙏just like you, who found me via Thumbtack. You are in excellent hands. Part of my success is I offer my deluxe complimentary Closet Tour which is a 50 minute part phone/part remote look at you, and your current wardrobe. Once we schedule your day and time, I will share how your Closet Tour works. 2025 is the year I celebrate 21 years as a personal stylist. I am offering your first two hours at my 2004 rates of $175 an hour. Over $125 an hour savings. Then enjoy an additional $100 off per hour at $200 an hour. My normal client rates are $300 an hour. Please note if you are being approached with large packages by your other stylist selections, It is not necessary to pay thousands of dollars with lengthy time commitments unless you would like to. Styling with me is quick and efficient with my 3 session process, maybe you only need Step 1. This is why it’s critical to shop from your closet first. Look how lucky I am for when I began my styling career along with my entire body of work beginning at 10 years old.✨ British Vogue covered the launch of my remote styling services in 2008. I am the earliest influencer with over 17 years of remote styling. I have worked in 12 states in person, around the country, and pockets of the world in person, and remote . I worked in NY, and all areas around for over 15 years, flying in for all the end of season sales. I worked in the Bay Area ( I grew up in San Mateo, then San Francisco) for over 10 years in person. Here is my 3 step process. Step 1 RESET*RESTYLE*SHOP YOUR CLOSET Restyle fits in ways you never knew were available to you in your own wardrobe. Text you screenshots for daily wardrobe planning or trips. Release clothing you are attached to but are not sure how to move forward from. Create a list of supplemental shopping pieces (if needed) to elevate, and update your wardrobe and your style. Step 2 CUSTOM CURATED REMOTE SHOPPING Together we send the dressing room to your home of 💯% returnable pieces. I shop for you and you check out. No commitment except to get excited for your FITTING/STYLING session. Shopping sessions are approximately 2-3 hours. No dressing rooms, bright lights, running around your local mall. I can access more options and I shop only on resale/sale for you! Step 3 FUTURE SELF FITTING/STYLING Together we will identify curated pieces with flexibility and longevity in multiple categories for your life. I will take pictures of all completed styled looks, and text you screenshots. Leaving you with the perfect FUTURE SELF capsule wardrobe. Simply wardrobe plan from your phone each day and enjoy the compliments. You can also work with me via text only, if you are just looking for advice on daily outfits. My services include: Conference/Panel/Speaking Date Night Gifting Styling-Birthdays/Holidays Going back to the office - Pandemic/Pregnancy Life Shifts - Divorce to Dating Life Moment Styling/Events Remote Photo Shoot Styling Trip Styling -Business/Vacations About me ~~~~~~~~~ I have been very fortunate to be covered in major press outlets such as British Vogue, Daily Candy, Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles magazine, LA Weekly, In Style - People Magazine/Stylewatch, Pure Wow, and many more. I am one of the very first remote stylists and one of the very first stylists on Thumbtack. I am the published author of Closet Control published by Sterling Press in 2007. I had a very early style podcast produced by California Psychics called Fashion 411 - It’s never just about the clothing. After 8 years of handling and developing top models in San Francisco and Hollywood. Some of these models went on to become huge celebrities today. I began my career at 10 years old at my father’s men’s suit store in the financial district of San Francisco called Executive Clothes. I grew up around a tailor. My family is several generations of dress manufacturers, menswear reps and tailors. I worked in retail for over 10 years for well known retailers such as: Contempo Casuals, Ann Taylor, Nordstrom, Guess, Lancôme. I have a great eye as well as knowing what clothing should cost. I shop clients online through planet 🌎 friendly resale and sale versus retail. My father’s store was high end menswear at wholesale prices. ****************************************** where I share (in my stories) planet friendly style, and styling tips. Congratulations working with me already makes you part of the solution around owning a more sustainable wardrobe for yourself, and our planet. Welcome to the circular economy by Restyling your closet first. Mindfully shopping second. This is exactly how I will curate the pieces that we will acquire for you. Fashion is the number two offender to our environment behind agriculture. I am based at the beach in Los Angeles, California after living in Hollywood for over 15 years. (Now this is the part where if you have never worked with a stylist before you believe the person you hire needs to be in person. Which means the small percentage of you who aren’t letting experience be your compass are not understanding why Thumbtack has presented me to you as “serves your location”) it’s quite possible that you do not have a stylist with my level of experience where you live. People magazine called me Hollywood’s personal stylist. Without a doubt, I have dressed my share of celebrities. Styling is the perfect portal to your intentions and manifesting energy. I will add efficiency and value to your life coupled with immense joy. Your wardrobe tells your story of where you have been, how you were raised, and how your family participated in getting dressed. Your struggle is not imagined. Good news is, fashion and styling are my families story. It’s second nature. It is intuitive for me. It’s 48 of my 58 years. So Why do I have a longtime career as a personal stylist? One word: "Never." "I NEVER would have bought that." "I NEVER would have put that together." "I NEVER would have thought of that" I have consulted for boutiques and was one ☝️ of the very first upcyclers of reworked tee shirts from Goodwill with a Custom cut T shirt line called Rigged Tee Shirt Couture. Traveling the sample sale circuit to Chicago, New York, London, and San Francisco and carried in major boutiques. I was hired by brands like Air Jordan, Forever 21, Nike, Skyy vodka to cut up custom tops from oversized branded T-shirts for the brands guests at launch parties, movie premieres, private parties. Barbra recalls how the people around her inspired the decision to become a professional stylist. “My cousin Betsy came to me one day, explaining, ‘Barbra, I feel good on the inside, I want to match it up on the outside. Can you help me with that thing you do in the closets?’ I answered, ‘The family parlor tricks?’ My mom has been selling her and our clothing way before eBay, and moving furniture and cutting up clothing were sort of the family mantra,” she shares. “Add in my father owning a high-end menswear store at a discount. Watching a tailor custom-fit suits didn’t hurt my understanding for fit as one of the most important elements of style.” According to Barbra, simply style and fashion are about development—what you don’t know, learn, and what you do know, teach. “This is how the family parlor tricks became a business, and a book by Sterling Press called Closet Control,” she says. *interview excerpted from Southbay Magazine non

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
You are accessing my new client rate of $125 off an hour for the first two hours then $200 an hour vs. 300 which my longtime clients pay.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I need to get into your head. So much of what you are feeling is perception not reality. How you grew up, how your family spent money on clothing for you. You bring this all with you in a big ol' suitcase, or rather clothing you cannot let go of - Once I dig in like a lawyer doing discovery. I have learned a lot. We are now warm and ready to hit the road. The closet is where it all begins. After 20 years I know you have holes. In one session you begin an entirely new journey.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
My resume is very linear. I grew up in retail (menswear) then worked in retail for over ten years. I managed several cosmetic counters for 5 years of the ten. I went on to become a modeling agent for 8 years. I developed many careers of models working today as well as some high profile celebrities. I understand development and branding. I get you found, seen and remembered.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I wish I could say I thought of becoming a stylist. I share with clients "when you are told something long enough" Other's see what you can not. It is how I became a stylist. I am so grateful that everyone saw my innate creativity. All of what I know as the family parlor trick's never knowing one day it would become my career where I would get a ton of press, travel the country, cover Los Angeles Fashion Week for British Vogue. com, have my own radio show called Fashion 411, it's NEVER just about the clothing. Nope, I never saw styling coming. I simply use the gifts given to me and pass the baton to you. I am your light your biggest fan. I get you to open up and become who you are meant to be!

What types of customers have you worked with?

Here is the best example of what styling can do for your life. I was in NY a market I have been working in for over 15 years . I was with finance clients the weekend the banks crashed. What I found out is that every client that optimized their wardrobe by utilizing my services did not get let go and in a lot of cases got promoted. Clients who put styling into their toolbox. The results are profound.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

I love what I do. It's shape-shifting - it's coaching -it's clothing on 10. When you use your wardrobe as navigation. your life is easier and the feedback is instant. Automatic compliments fall out of mouths of people you don't even know. It’s that instant after we work together!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
I am so glad this question is here. I have been a stylist on Thumbtack since 2009. It wasn't until Google invested that I began to answer over 2000 requests since October 2016. It’s 2022 now I have lost track on the amount of styling requests I have answered.🤣My biggest suggestion is to take this amazing opportunity of stylists reaching out and not get scared and cancel your request. Talk to all of us. Styling is a relationship sometimes even more intimate than your closest ones. You want your stylist to be ahead of you. You want them to delight and surprise you and create what you could never have imagined but want to. Whether you are overwhelmed because you don't know what Thumbtack is? Have your phone consult with each stylist that takes the time to pursue you. PIck up some great free tips from each of us when you are ready you will know.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Ask yourself why you have to work locally where you live If you can hire the best, and I am one of the best there is then signing on to Zoom is even easier then opening the door to mediocre styling.
