Introduction

GinaTheFashionista is a personal shopping and closet service company created by Gina Kantor in 2015. Previously over the past ten years, I have worked in retail within many areas and companies acquiring over 100 loyal clients by making their shopping an enjoyable experience. I am known to use customers information about body type and personal life to help them achieve a confident look in their daily life or for a special occasion. I work primarily with major department stores to be able to help my clients on any budget while saving them time. My service is different than most personal shopping services in which there is no charging hourly or commission but only one flat fee for the service that is needed. I am known to go above and beyond for her clients by thinking outside the box to get them what they are looking for by incorporating new fashion trends with their lifestyle. For one flat fee, I will make sure your experience is easy and validating whether your looking to get help with organizing and cleaning out your closet or a shopping experience.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I charge flat fees for all my services. I offer 4 different services/combination packages. A wardrobe update is a flat fee of $500, a closet assessment and wardrobe update combination is a flat fee of $750, a closet clean out and organization combination is a flat fee of $750 and the ultimate package of a closet assessment, clean out and organization with a wardrobe update is a flat fee of $1500

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I will get an inquiry from a potential customer and ask what they are looking for. From there I will set up whatever appointments are necessary to begin the process. If the initial meeting is at a clients home, I can ask all my questions when I see them in person, but if I am working with a client who is just doing a wardrobe update, I will send them a questionnaire to help me be able to get them everything they are looking for.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have a BA in Sociology from Northeastern University and a Fashion Business Certificate from Parsons New School.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I began working retail jobs in the summers and really liked every aspect of retail from customer service, to working with all the merchandise and interacting with the customers. As I kept working in the industry I was known for my customer service skills as well as being a top seller and eventually worked at a few stores being a Personal Shopper/Stylist before I went off on my own to have my own business.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I primarily work with women in a wide age range. I have worked with girls in high school and women in their seventies. I am use to working with women of all shapes and sizes. My average client is between thirty and sixty. I usually work with women that either do not like to shop or do not have the time to shop due to their lifestyle or a mixture of both.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
One of my favorite projects was working with a new client who has not touched her closet in over 40 years. She needed help cleaning out and organizing her closet as well as getting her new items. I spent 5 hours with her at her home to completely clean out and organize her full size walk in closet of clothes and accessories and made a second appointment with her where we picked out some new items to replace what she was now lacking in her newly updated wardrobe selection. She was in her 60s and very particular about what she liked so I enjoyed not only giving her a fresh start but enjoyed the challenge of finding what she wanted.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
I would advise anyone who is looking to work with a Personal Shopper to take a look at their website and read through the About Me section, the general pricing of their services, but more importantly their client testimonials. The most invaluable asset someone in my line of work has is the power of word of mouth with people speaking on your behalf about you and your work. As you read everything, you should pick someone who you feel will work well with what you plan to do and that seems like he/she/they would be someone you would feel comfortable with. You want to feel like you are working with a professional as well as a friend that you trust.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
The questions that customers should have ready to ask is all in relation to how the process will work if you hire them.
