What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
My aim with every client is to get a solid understanding of their current styling challenges and what styling goals they want to achieve when partnering with me. I start out with a 1-hour complimentary virtual style consultation to discuss my client's specific needs and share detailed information about how my tailored services can meet these needs. The questions I ask during my initial phone consultation and future meetings are designed to enable customers to personally explore their motivations for seeking a new look and really help pinpoint the key areas they want to focus on. It can be a real eye-opening experience for them and it's always extremely insightful for me as their future Personal Stylist.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I believe that ongoing education and professional development is not only very important, but it greatly benefits my clients. I've completed Personal Styling, Fashion Styling, and Menswear Certifications at the School of Style based in Los Angeles. I am a member and chapter board member of the Association of Image Consultants International (AICI), the leading global association for professional image consultants and wardrobe stylists. I'm also a board member of Fashion Group International (Dallas), a globally-based association that's an authority on the business of fashion and design. My role as a Personal Stylist is to keep a finger on the pulse of trends, so I regularly participate in exclusive fashion events and conferences across the country. I also hold a Bachelor's Degree in Business Education from Marymount University.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I was born and raised in the Fashion Capital, New York City, where my love for fashion blossomed! During a fabulous 15-year career of recruitment consulting, I often worked with professionals who not only needed personal coaching in the formal interview process, but those that also needed an image makeover in terms of their overall presence and wardrobe style. I had the pleasure of helping great professional and executive talent land awesome job opportunities. It was such a great experience to help develop their personal style and brand and watch their careers progress as a result. My passion for fashion flourished and I made the decision to build a personal styling practice to help everyone become more stylish no matter what's driving their desire for a wardrobe makeover.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Many of my clients are professional women who have reached a point in their lives where they want a fresh, updated look to help rebrand themselves (professionally and personally), want to explore new areas of style, or even build their confidence after a major life change (new job, marriage, divorce, having a baby, etc.). In addition, before working with me, my clients typically feel like they're ready for an updated look, but simply don't know where to start nor do they have the time to shop or explore the latest fashion trends. My clients are comfortable leaning on me to help them in each of these areas and it's my absolute pleasure to redefine their look!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
I would advise a customer looking to partner with a stylist to be open and flexible to new ideas. This is fun and creative process if you let it be. Also, an expert stylist should always have YOUR best interest at heart and listen to what you want out of your work together.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
I recommend that customers think about both their styling service budget and their actual clothing budget which are two different things. It helps you and the stylist to know this upfront so you can choose the best possible service for you.
