What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

We offer free crawl space and basement inspections where our inspector will provide a thorough assessment of the situation along with a free estimate.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

We start with scheduling a free crawl space or basement inspection. Next, at the inspection appointment, the inspector will provide a free estimate. If the homeowner wants to hire Dry Otter, the production manager will reach out to schedule the work. The work usually lasts 1 to 4 days. There is usually no impact on the residents in the home during the work, since the work is under the house. If we perform mold remediation in the crawl space, we take precautions to protect the people in the home. We offer warranties and recommend an annual maintenance of the system and we offer that service.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

There are no permits or certifications needed for crawl space or basement waterproofing. But we are a member of the National Association of Remodeling Industry and the Basement Health Association.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

The owners of Dry Otter Waterproofing have been in the foundation waterproofing industry for many years. Kevin has worked as a waterproofing installer since he graduated college and has worked in every position since, when in 2013 he started his own waterproofing company. Mark has also worked in the industry in many positions for many years as well.

What types of customers have you worked with?

Homeowners in the Charlotte, Lake Norman, and Hickory areas.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

We recently installed waterproofing in a crawl space/basement combo. We put plastic on the walls of the crawl space, a drainage system in the basement, a sump pump, and a dehumidifier. This was all while the home was not occupied; the home had just been purchased by someone while out of state. When he moved down to his newly purchased home, his waterproofing was all done!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Get a few quotes. When considering which one to go with, don't only consider price. Consider the longevity of the company, if they are TRULY local, and if they'll be around for years to come to help you maintain the integrity of your foundation.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Do you want to choose a company that specializes in something other than waterproofing and just does waterproofing here and there to make a little extra money? Or do you want to choose a company that is made up of experts in the industry.
