Introduction

Brandon Tisor – Professional Caricature Artist With over 25 years of experience as a professional caricature artist, Brandon has built a distinguished career in the art of caricature. His journey began at Kamans Art Shoppes, where he honed his skills while working on the grounds of Knott’s Berry Farm for 5.5 years. During this time, he developed the ability to capture personalities with quick, expressive strokes—an essential skill for live event caricature art. His passion for illustration and design led him to pursue a Bachelor’s Degree in Design from Cal State University, Fullerton, complementing his hands-on experience with a strong academic foundation. He has taught drawing to kids and adults as well and loves it. Brandon always enjoys taking art classes and reading art books.😊👨‍🎨 For large events (40 guests or more) Brandon believes from his experience that 3 hours is an excellent amount of time to draw as many guests as possible. He strongly recommends at least 3 hours for larger events. Quality is extremely important to him as an artist, and the more time the better the quality. His normal drawing rate is $100 per hour plus an additional $25 (25miles Round Trip), $50 (50 miles Round Trip, $75 (75 miles Round Trip) and $100 (100 miles Round Trip). FOR EXAMPLE, If a client's event is 75 miles away from me, the travel rate would be $75 total. These amounts cover materials and equipment as well. All caricatures are put into plastic protectors when he finishes a drawing. Brandon will stay an additional half hour extra (No Charge) as a way of saying Thank You for your understanding about the travel and materials fee. He has always had this business policy. Lastly, he has references available upon request. Beyond his formal education, Brandon has continually refined his craft through specialized caricature and art classes, expanding his expertise in various artistic disciplines. Over the years, he has worked with an impressive roster of corporate clients, including Netflix, Fox TV, Chick-fil-A, Amwins Insurance, Health-Ade, Vitas Health Care, Noble House Furniture, Reagan Gold Group, Secure One Financial, Port Theater, Pure Project, Cal State University San Bernardino Coyote Festival, Grand Del Mar Equestrian Center, Agua Caliente Casino, Del Mar Country Club, Ss Hert Trucking, Long Beach Marriott, Ring, Pet Supply Warehouse, Newport Marriott among many others. His ability to entertain and create unique keepsakes has made him a sought-after artist for weddings, graduations, proms, birthday parties, baby showers, festivals, and holiday events. While live caricature art is his specialty, Brandon is also proficient in caricature illustration, figurative sculpture, digital art, and traditional illustration. His sculptural work has even earned a place in Lagunaart Gallery in the Mission Viejo Mall, showcasing his ability to bring characters to life beyond the two-dimensional canvas. His versatility as an artist allows him to explore different mediums while maintaining his signature expressive style. Brandon’s work isn’t limited to people—he has also become known for his dog caricatures, drawing beloved pets at pet stores, festivals, and special events. His ability to capture the unique personalities of both humans and animals alike has made him a favorite among pet owners and event organizers. His warm and engaging presence ensures that every client leaves with a one-of-a-kind piece of art, filled with personality and charm. Whether working with major companies, private clients, or showcasing his artwork in galleries, Brandon continues to push the boundaries of caricature art. Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I try to make my prices as fair as possible. I try to be fair to both the customer and to myself as well. When I say myself what I mean is not under selling my art work. Many many hours of work and dedication I have invested into my skill, but at the sametime I try not to make my rates too high because I love drawing for people. Making people smile and enjoy themselves gives me the ultimate satisfaction.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Well I try to keep my rates the same for both new and returning customers. I try to meet a customer's. wants the best I can. I describe my process briefly when I send my initial quote.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have a Bachelors of Arts degree in Design which incorporates drawing, color theory, sculpture, drafting and painting. Design emphasizes composition and anatomical understanding which both help in drawing caricatures or other art work. I worked also for Kaman's Art Shops for 5 years drawing Caricatures for Knotts Berry Farm before now having my own caricature business. This is my 25th year as a caricaturist.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I met a great artist on the web from Belgium. He told me there was an exceptional artist in San Diego who teaches caricature drawing. I took the class from that artist and it was fun and so beneficial!!! I was told to travel to Las Vegas for a caricature convention. I met many amazing artists at the convention. One artist told me I need to tryout for Kaman’s Art Shoppes which was on the grounds of Knott’s Berry Farm. I made it in! I worked as a caricature artist for 5 years at Knott’s Berry Farm and now I continue to still have (That I am so greatly grateful for) the opportunity to draw caricatures for many, many, many great events and so lucky to meet a ton of amazing awesome people!!! I LOVE to draw caricatures!!!

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I do caricature parties for my clients. Types of events include: Birthdays, Graduations, Weddings, Holiday Parties and Corporate Parties. In addition, I do illustrative work doing gift caricatures for clients. Another art form that I enjoy doing is drawing both caricatures and portraits of dogs. Dog Portraits and Dog Caricatures I have also done balloon animals and sculpture as well. I enjoy all art forms!!! If interested in any of these other art forms I'd really like to work for you!!! Thank you.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I recently did a dog caricature illustration where the dog was wearing a hat. It took me a couple of days to finish the project. I also do figure sculpture. Each sculpture takes different amounts of time to complete.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
I would tell the customer to hire an artist who is organized and is willing to compromise to meet the wants and needs of the customer.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
I don't have any suggestions on this topic because of course every customer is different and so are their wants and expectations.
