Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I like to work with each client on an individual basis to learn about the event and find a price that works for both parties. My rate always includes the very best equipment that money can buy.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I like to discuss the event via the telephone whenever possible. I like to know what kind of audience engagement you would prefer - would you like me to really get involved with the crowd, or would you like me to be subtle and play music in the background? I also have the experience of literally hundreds of weddings so I am always happy to act an emcee when necessary, or perhaps make a microphone available for toasts.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have the experience of playing hundreds of different shows at many venues across the country.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I have always loved music and at some point I decided to play publicly and see if people liked my music. I kept getting invited to play at different festivals, wineries and resorts so I just kept growing.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Oh you name it! I have played baby showers, weddings, backyard barbecues, festivals, concerts. I have even played for celebrities.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I played an event for Bill Murray. He was kind, engaging, and paid me to keep playing after my 3 hour set was complete.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Hmmm. I would suggest that you do two things- First, look at videos and listen to music. Second, talk to the provider on the phone. Just because someone is a good musician does not mean they are a nice person or easy to work with.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Consider the fact the musician you hire will reflect on you. Your guests will either think the event was fantastic and that you have great taste, or they will wonder why you hired a person that was not a professional.
