Introduction

Hello, My name is Steve Wastell. Hope you're having a great day! I am a Medal Winner and regular performer at the world famous Magic Castle in Hollywood. I think you'll find my performances distinctive from most others. I design my shows to be more unexpected than regular commercial magic and I guarantee you will see jaws drop in amazement. Think David Blaine or Kris Angel with a sense of humor :) I really believe a true magician doesn't merely "do tricks". A true magician connects with their audience and takes them to a place of wonder. My shows are infused with humor, so your guests will always leave with a smile on their faces and a story to tell for days afterward. Please watch my videos and read my reviews here and on Yelp. I am also always willing to work with your budget. Thank you for your consideration. I look forward to hearing from you. Steve I love the connection with people. It's not about fooling people or even doing a fun trick. It's about taking someones day and making it special, making an impression, something they talk about and remember.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
At first glance, it may seem like my pricing is a bit higher than some but like most things, I believe you really do get what you pay for. My pricing is based on an hourly rate for walkaround magic. A show is a little bit more but includes more magic. Travel and day of the week is also a factor but I am always willing to discuss your budget and try to work with you.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I may be old fashioned but I still like to talk on the phone, I think you get a better feel for whom you are dealing with and it helps to get to know you a little so I can tailor my show to your specific needs.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I am a performing member at the world-famous magic castle. I started performing magic in bars while I was bartending. I was blessed to perform every night for all kind of people, as I honed my craft through trial and error over 20 years in bars and restaurants from the East coast to the West.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Unlike most magicians, I did not start as a child. I met my mentor in the early 80s while working in a bar on the upper west side of Manhattan. At the end of every show, I pay homage to my mentor with a piece of magic I have never seen anyone else do.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked for people in their backyards on their 60 birthday in Lancaster CA to Fox Pictures, PlayStation, Coppola Wines, The Pinkerton Agency and Movie Stars. It does not matter where you are from or what you do, good magic will always make you smile.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
Every year I do walk around magic on veterans day at the VA Hospital as the veterans line up for the BBQ. Some of the men and women can be a pretty tough audience at first, they have been through a lot. But when they smile and shake your hand and tell you that was fun, that's a good day. That's is magic for me :)

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Every magician has a different energy and a different style. Look at their work and see who you are drawn to. Check out their reviews and look them up on Yelp. Also be sure to watch their videos.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
There are a few things to think about but mostly the timing. Where would the magic have the most impact at their event? At the cocktail hour or after dinner?
