Introduction

I specialize in close-up magic that amazes and astonishes. People love to have close-up illusions occur in their hands or right in front of their eyes. My approach is fun and lighthearted. It's also fun creating new effects. I think of a cool illusion and then choose props and sleight of hand to make it happen. - My magic is varied using coins, cards, silks, ropes, props, and everyday objects. For special events I will do psychic/ mentalist magic with mind reading and levitations. - Entertaining people and getting applause and compliments are the best benefits of being a magician. I perform for private parties in homes, corporate events, wedding receptions, and more. Entertaining people and getting applause and complements are the best benefits of being a magician. Private parties are billed at $100/hour + $125 set-up. Corporate events are more because I customize tricks/illusions for the company or industry. Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I charge by the hour with a 2 hour minimum but I quote each job separately. Corporate events require more customization.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I call and ask questions about the venue, the event theme, the people attending, the schedule, and Platform, Table, or Walk-around presentation. Then I send a brief contract. We usually speak the day before and then I show-up 30 minutes early to gauge the room or setting and make final preparations. Sometimes I need to see the venue a few days before.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I read old magic books or watch a new magic video daily. But when I already know 300 effects I am not looking for new tricks to add, but new ways to do the effects.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
Growing up my father's best friend was a full-time magician, Walter Graham. He would do magic for us almost every time he came over. In 1992 I had started selling radio advertising to agencies and I wanted to be memorable and even more likable. So I started taking lessons from two Denver magicians.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Corporations, private parties at homes, country clubs, bars, restaurants, and high schools. For kids parties my minimum age is 10 years old.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I performed card magic in walk-around style using playing cards with the company logo on the back and pictures of their products and services on the front. They invited 600 to this cocktail party so they hired two of us to do card magic only for 2+ hours in the Pinnacle Club on the 38th floor in downtown Denver.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
We have many great magicians in Denver. Check out their websites and call each of them if you are unsure which is best.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
What is the theme of the event? Magic might be customized to your theme. Will it be possible to have a table or platform show for 30-60 minutes or would walk-around close-up magic be best? or a combination? Will people be too distracted by other activities at the event? Magic at a bowling or swimming party is challenging, but possible. When will food be served? Magic must come before or after dinner, but never during.
