Introduction

FAST-PACED, original & SPELLBINDING SORCERY that leaves you HAPPY & MYSTIFIED: this is what I have been providing to audiences up and down the East Coast for over 35 years. I have performed more than 6000 magic shows over the course of a 35 year plus career as a FULL-TIME professional magician. I am also a theater director and deeply understand the relationship between the performer and audience. It’s the audience’s wonderment and participation that ignites my love of performing to create an experience that is IMMEDIATE & THEATRICAL. My magic shows offer GENUINE audience interaction that is SPECIFIC, FUNNY & completely ENGAGING to children, teens & adults. My magic makes people laugh and smile and believe anything is possible.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
I price my shows based on audience size, length of the show, type of magic entertainment provided, the venue size, travel distance to the event and whether the show will be performed outdoors or inside.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
The greatest teacher is experience. I began practicing magic at age 10 and started performing professionally when I was 12. I took magic lessons from many prominent magicians but it was my constant interaction with audiences that shaped me. As well as being a member of the Society of American Magicians, I am also a theater director who studied acting and directing at the Studio Theatre Acting Conservatory in Wash, DC and at the Lincoln Center Theater Directors Lab. I have worked as an actor or director at The Kennedy Center, Ford's Theatre, Studio Theatre, Theater J and The Chocolate Factory. I believe every play or musical is a big magic trick that unwraps to reveal all of its surprises.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
Stage magic, close-up sleight of hand and walk-around entertainment are all part of my repertoire. I have performed corporate trade shows for Xerox, McDonalds, and MCI; library shows for counties in MD, VA, DE, & the city of Philadelphia; galas and private parties in Washington, DC for Union Station, French & Italian Embassies; 20 years of New Year's Eve performances for the cities of Warrenton, Annapolis, Leesburg; and hundreds of shows for children at schools, birthdays, carnivals, and the Fairfax County Park Authority.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Just because the magician knows a lot tricks and can perform them well doesn’t mean he or she can captivate and entertain an entire audience from beginning to end. It is a rare skill to mystify and entertain to the specific audience in the room and make them feel special. I have it. Most magicians have a lot of set patter and repartee that is not necessarily specific to the audience right in front of them. The magician needs to use the gifts of the audience he or she is given. A magician with theater, actor and movement training is preferable than one without.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Even though the event may have all ages in attendance from children to adults what is the age range of the majority of the audience? This should be the focus of the magic show. What kind of environment would you like the magic show to take place in? Indoors? Outdoors? If indoors, what kind of room? If your event is outdoors do you have a rain contingency plan in case of inclement weather?
