After the potential customer views my quote, I follow up with them via Thumbtack to ask for their telephone number and email address so that I can learn more about what I can do for them that will benefit them and their group. When the customer decides to book their magic show or magician entertainment, I confirm all the details with them and email them a confirmation. I only accept checks from businesses and corporations. I do not require a deposit.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I have a Master of Science in Management and have invested many years of study and practice to become a professional corporate, family and children's magician.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I was tricked into it : ) Seriously, my parents had escaped from Hungary in 1956 during the Hungarian Revolution and arrived in the US as immigrants . . . pregnant with me! I was Made in Hungary and Born in the USA. That made me a “natural born citizen”! Anyway, when I was about 5 years old, my parents opened a Hungarian restaurant in Manhattan. One day, I was just minding my business in my parents' restaurant when a butcher suddenly appeared carrying a fresh pig on his shoulder. I felt awed by sight of the man, dressed in a long white coat, with a giant pig draped over his shoulder. When the butcher magically pulled a quarter out of the pig’s ear, I laughed! And then he turned the pig into a watermelon! Magic! The power of magic is not in the illusion or trick we think we see . . . It's in the imagination; the image the magician creates. The way it makes us feel that certain sense . . . . . . of childlike . . . . wonder. Despite my early love of magic, I didn’t become a serious magician until much later in life. Although magic always fascinated me, and I had tried to learn some tricks from books when I was a kid, it wasn’t until I was in my forties that I decided to go to a magic convention. I took my young daughter Juliana with me, thinking magic would be a fun way to entertain her. We saw dozens of magicians and after seeing some cool sleight of hand magic performed, I bought some super soft sponge balls. As I drove us home, my daughter taught herself a sponge ball trick by reading the instructions while riding in the back seat . . . and my little girl amazed me with magic! She inspired me to learn, practice and invest in more tools of the trade! Shortly after learning a few more effects, I got my first paid gig as a restaurant magician! Before I had started developing as a magician, I had been attending Toastmasters for several years and really enjoyed the positive people who wanted to improve their leadership and communication skills. I loved and believed in it so much that I created and led a successful Toastmasters type group at AT&T just like the one here at Comcast today! My Toastmaster training not only helped me receive three promotions and two national Gold Club Sales Award trips at AT&T, it also gave me the confidence to become a professional magician. And now I'm back in Toastmaster's again because I want to continue learning and growing. I strongly believe that joining Toastmasters and having some great mentors will help me achieve one of my career goals: to become a motivational speaker. My dream after I “retire” is to travel the world doing magic shows. It’s a dream—but you never know. Most certainly, I look forward to creating more magic, motivating people and seeing YOU at the top!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Are you better off with a strolling magician or a stand up show or a combination of the two? A strolling magician wanders from group to group or table to table, performing sleight of hand tricks using cards, coins and small props. They require little or no space, since they are constantly roaming. The strolling magicians are ideal for events that need entertainment for a long period of time, where people are not seated and are not all able to pay attention at once, such as a dance or a picnic or a late night graduation. Do your home work. Follow up on references. Any entertainer can be the finest on the market and still have a bad show now and then. Magic is not a science and there are many factors that make a great show. The audience is one of those factors and a good magician will connect with the audience. Let us help make your great event even more memorable! Please call us at to learn more about how JULIUS MAGIC can benefit you, your children, and your organization.
