Introduction

It's all about the teacher. IT REALLY IS. I want all my students to feel comfortable at their guitar lessons. It should be a special time out of the week to know you can relax, feel safe, open up, have fun, & learn to play guitar, & just share a special connection with eachother. My lessons/curriculums are always in the best interest of the student & bring more then just music and guitar into people's lives; I also know that with our time spot together, I want every word, every conversation to be informative, useful, productive, feeding musical knowledge & history into the time frame. Im very elementary & patient and passionate towards people and the way they learn because everyone learns differently. So I adapt to them. I know this has all worked out so well over the years because it stems from just always loving people and music, always being open minded and cultural, being sensitive & caring everyone & by studying/graduating college with my Early Childhood education degree 👊... Totally use all of that and bring it together. So truly after 14 years, it's turned into such a success has taught me more by teaching and a dream come true! I will help/show my students physically how to hold a guitar, how to sit or position themselves properly, there's so much mental work happening when playing, it works you're entire body and mind and soul. I think what makes me stand out as a guitar teacher is I just LOVE what I do!! It's my joy to teach & Guitar Lessons with me is not/are not just a normal extra ".class" or some lousy boring educational program you gotta squeeze into the day, it's a blast!!! I find them to be also therapeutic & sharpening the mjnd/body/brain as well. Guitar lessons are for EVERYONE AND ANYONE; I don't believe in the words: boring or perfect. Be yourself, always.... Learning how to play guitar is empowering and totally boosts ones inner self esteem to a high where they never want to stop. It's an art, we continue to create, dream and reach places do things we never thought were possible. Playing the guitar is a treat, not a punishment. I'm blessed beyond words to do what I love & form wonderful life long relationships with my students, their families, & friends, etc. I'm know to be a natural cheerleader so it's easy for me to stay positive encourage and keep that energy going throughout the lessons. Doesn't matter who u are, where you're from, what age, gender, race, you are, none of that matters. We are all the same and it's time to PLAY MUSIC!!! And knowing I made a difference in someone's life, there's nothing more rewarding then that!! ❤️😊🎸👊 Music is my life. It's the gift that keeps on giving and I've been doing this over 14 years!! I'll prolly never stop teaching. I've had over 450+ students & only want more-You should hire me because you'll never regret it and you learn a song on your first lesson!. I'm a free spirit & have an enthusiast attitude.... plus I'm very patient & anyone is welcome in my book. I want to be a blessing and change the lives of others.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
Less is more. I always make sure my first few lessons are easy to understand fun, short and intriguing. Most importantly we are getting to know each other and feel comfortable. There will be note taking, writing and defining, sketching and drawing, etc. I keep the lessons sweet simple and elementary, just learning the party and talking aloud. Slowly they will feel more comfortable and adjust to holding the guitar and what position sitting or standing suits them

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
It all started when I went to college in 2002 and majored in Early Childhood Education, which taught me all about the "child" and whole body (brain) cognitive ways of learning slowly and developing. While I was in college, I needed a part time job and had my guitar thinking there may be a teacher or school that would train me on how to teach guitar lessons and be a certified instructor. I did just that , took a few lessons from a college professor, and was hired on the spot at American Music. Been teaching ever since.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I taught myself how to play guitar my Senior year in highschool and loved it. I had an ear for it and realized I had a hidden talent. after a few months of playing on my own and trying to figure out the notes, chords, scales, I felt stuck and took 3- 30 minute lessons from a man at my church that played in the worship band. It helped alot and I took off from there. Once I got to college and was looking for a job, I thought teaching guitar would be ideal.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
ALL SORTS, male and female, all different races, ages, boys and girls, teenagers, young adults, middle aged and even seniors. I love my students and become very close with them and their families, the diversity is the best because I learn about different cultures, music, genres, and everyone shares their thoughts about guitar! The average age that usually starts is 9 years old (sometimes 8) and up.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

My most favorite event when teaching guitar lessons is planning the Guitar Recitals which occurs later down the road and is a big highlight for them to look forward too!!!! Its basically a big party/graduation for each student they can invite anyone they want and how ever many people they want, there will be their favorite drinks and finger foods there, balloons, games, and I provide custom made rewards and certfificates once completing the recital fully. They will have to know and play in front of the audience: -All the parts of the guitar -22 basic chords, must draw each and play each -Simple Tabs (super easy tabs that they can choose) -1 scale to improve their string finger knowledge much more! Once we “graduate” the elementary phase -beginner level- it’s really fun getting my students hyped up for the Guitar Recitals that come after! It’s a celebration for them, their families and friends and especially myself to watch another student progress and grow … and it’s very encouraging for them!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

Playing the guitar is the most amazing gift you can give yourself and always rewarding each time you play. It is a new hobby for the student and a healthy one at that. I like to call it a hidden talent that you never realized you had inside. playing the guitar is addictive helps mathematically and logically improves right left brain interaction and memorization. to and fall in love with. Its a different world that opens up and no one can steal the peace it brings to your soul.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

My student can ask me anything any time and should never feel embarrassed or nervous/scared. I've realized that its best for my students to brainstorm and write down ides, songs, questions, anything so they don't forget. I will answer any and all of their questions, not a problem no worries.
