Introduction

There is no singular aspect of performing that is most important. All aspects are essential for a well-rounded education. I teach because I love to see people who express the same interest I have for performing, and it's my mission to cultivate that passion in others.

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
The pricing I use varies depending on the needs and goals of the student.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
I like to start with a consultation where I sit down with a potential client and explain how they would fit in if they were to choose me as their teacher. From there I explain how we can achieve goals (or create goals together) in taking lessons. For kids I like to use a method book that is best suited for them and use a practice journal to note their progress. I also like to use a practice journal for my adult students as well.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
I have a Bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance with a minor in theater and a Master's in Music Performance with a concentration in Vocal Pedagogy. I also have taken 5 years of piano lessons and 2 more years of piano in undergrad.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

unfold fold
I began teaching back in college during my sophomore year teaching young students about the world of musical theatre. At the end of the course my colleagues and myself put on a short production of scenes from the musical Annie with the students starring in the production. After receiving my undergraduate degree I began to teach at a local studio teaching mostly young students from the age of 5-11. I then went on and recieved my Masters degree. Then went back into teaching in 2019 and I currently have 15 students in my studio varying from piano and voice.

What types of customers have you worked with?

unfold fold
I have worked with all ages for voice and piano lessons from 4 & up. Many of my students are beginners in music and have had no prior training, but I do have students whom have had prior music training before coming to me.

Describe a recent project you are fond of. How long did it take?

unfold fold
I recently worked on a summer camp where all of the campers performed a variety of scenes from musicals including Grease, Disney and The Wiz! Not only did they perform, but we worked to hone in on their acting, singing and dancing skills.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Ask questions!!! As professional educators we are here to help you achieve your goals from wanting to perform or the occasional audition for your local theatre I am here to help you succeed! Be patient in the process. Progress will not happen overnight the only way you will notice a difference is if you practice outside of our sessions together.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

unfold fold
Before talking to pros, make sure to discuss what drives you to want to take lessons. Do you want to have lessons as a creative outlet, perhaps prep for an audition, or just want to learn a new skill? Whatever the reason, be up front and we can figure out your goals together.
