What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

I try to price as reasonably as possible, being fair to my customers and myself. I calculate my pricing on the location of the event, services requested, and duration of my performance. I consider the prices I quote fair in relation to my professional experience and to what is being asked by other professionals in today's market.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

When working with a new customer I typically assess their event needs by getting to know some details about their event and audience. After we determine what they are looking for and we want to move forward, I would send them a contract and ask for a partial deposit. Once a deposit is received the performance is a go!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I've been to several acting schools and have taken improvisation classes. But the training I am most proud of is my undergraduate and masters degrees in education. I have been a NYC school teacher for over 15 years. It is my specialty working with young people and I don't see myself doing anything else.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I started entertaining when I was 14 years old. I worked in a neighborhood novelty shop/magic store that booked out professional entertainment. It was only a matter of time that I started getting booked out as a clown, magician, and costumed character. I loved it! It was fun and I made money from it; a dream come true!

What types of customers have you worked with?

I have performed for every type of customer, for every age, in all settings. That is the beauty of this job, getting to interact with people from different backgrounds, cultures, and religions. I get invited into their homes and get treated like a member of the family. I have also performed for very high end corporate events and company parties. I've performed for celebrities and the average Joe. At public venues and of course, private events right in my customers living room!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

I would recommend thinking about if you prioritize quality over quantity. Many companies book out inexperienced young people doing chores like making cotton candy and painting on faces, however they aren't "entertainers". Also, many entertainers today have gotten into the business because they heard it was a quick way to make cash, people that aren't dedicated to the art of entertainment. If you are looking for an actual person that entertains all your guests, I am your guy!

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

"Is the entertainment I'm hiring for my event appropriate for the amount of children/guests at my party and age of the guests at my party?"
