It depends on the event or the student. I would want to interview by phone any potential student looking for lessons or client looking for live entertainment before hand (by phone is fine).

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

It depends on the customer and the type of venue. Phone interview, discussion of details, time, place, price, equipment if necessary, etc.

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

I've been playing piano and singing since age five. I started playing professionally at age 16.

How did you get started doing this type of work?

I started playing in restaurants at age 16. I've now played in restaurants, bars, hotels, cruise ships, weddings, parties, and business functions for over 20 years. I performed all over the world, in America, Europe, Australia, Fiji, New Zealand, etc.

Every kind of person imaginable.

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

As in everything, you get what you pay for. You want a great piano teacher, you don't choose the one with the cheapest asking price. You want a great live musical performance for your event, you don't choose the one with the cheapest quote.

What questions should customers think through before talking to professionals about their project?

Whether you are looking to hire a professional for your private event, or hire a teacher for yourself or your student, the most important factor before you make a selection is to be able to HEAR that person perform, and decide whether or not YOU like them.. a LOT. Are you impressed with what you hear? If not, keep looking.
