Introduction

My name is BJ Johnson also known as the Route 66 Wedding Officiant. My goal is to help each couple make their special day unique to them and to help tell their story. Whether you are having a quick elopement or a full lavish ceremony, I would love to be a part of your day. I am ready to help make your ceremony special! People consider me fun, quirky, and outgoing so if that's you, let's talk!

Q&A

What should the customer know about your pricing (e.g., discounts, fees)?

unfold fold
Believe it or not, wedding officiant is a competitive industry! As someone who is newer to weddings, I am doing my best to keep my pricing affordable. Weddings can be costly even going the more simple terms. So I am happy to offer affordable pricing. As far as discounts go if you are military, law enforcement, work in a hospital, an educator, or are a paramedic/emt I offer a 15% discount. I do want people to know that there could be travel fees associated with being your officiant as well. While the base price is $300 there many factors that could cause that to increase, including travel fees. If you are wanting me to be a part of your day but you are more then 40 miles away from Victorville there will be travel fees. Those, of course, are dependent on how far you are. And I do my best to keep those as reasonable as possible.

What is your typical process for working with a new customer?

unfold fold
The first thing, and actually one of the most important I believe, is getting to know the couple. I can't be an effective officiant without this critical step. And so once we have a sit down face to face meeting (in-person preferred, but virtual is a possibility), then the next step is to come to an agreement to have me as your officiant. Then a contract would need to be signed and a retainer deposit paid. At that point the script and other details are worked on. Every step of the way working with the couple to ensure that the ceremony is a special and unique as we can make it!

What education and/or training do you have that relates to your work?

unfold fold
No specific education or training, except every wedding gets more experience. I love people and I love talking so this is a perfect mix of both! I have worked in customer service for many years and well I talk to different people almost every day for most of my life!

What advice would you give a customer looking to hire a provider in your area of work?

unfold fold
Two things. Number one is to know what kind of ceremony you want (at least a general ideal). This is important because not every officiant will fit with every couple or every ceremony. And number two is to ask questions! Get to know your the officiant before committing. Don't be afraid to ask questions!
